Kentucky Woman Saves $500 on Water Bill With ServLine
Barbara H. had an annoying reoccurring problem at her Mount Sterling, Kentucky home: parts of her lawn periodically became swampy.
“You would walk on the ground, and it was very wet,” she said.
These wet spots posed a problem for Barbara, because after it had happened once, she knew exactly what the issue was just by walking across her lawn. As soon as she spotted the dampness, she knew that another spot in her water service line was leaking.
These leaks were expensive. For starters, Barbara had to hire a plumber to come repair her water service line. On top of that, she had to pay for the water that was leaking out into the ground.
Luckily for Barbara’s budget, her utility, Mount Sterling Water and Sewer, had partnered with ServLine to offer a leak protection program. The program provides residents who experience a high bill due to a plumbing malfunction to get their bill adjusted and only pay the average bill cost. ServLine pays the rest of the bill, up to the benefit amount, directly to the water utility once every 12 months.
“My water bill was over $500,” Barbara said about her most recent water line break. “So, I did get help with it, and the water company ended up only charging me $45. I have gotten this help before. The first time, I called the water company and was given a number to call.”
Filing a claim with ServLine was convenient and quick, she added.
“We were satisfied with the customer service and the quickness of the turnaround (on the claim),” Barbara said. “It happened so fast that the response was the next day.”
Barbara was grateful that the leak protection program was available.
“Until I had a leak and got help previously, I didn’t know it existed,” she said. “But I am so thankful that the program is there and available in my community.”
