We said it when the pandemic was at its peak and we’ll say it again – the ingenuity of people when the chips are down is quite remarkable. Many businesses totally reinvented themselves and some people are now running two businesses instead of one if the temporary business they built is a sustainable one.

For many though spring and the slow return to business could not have come a moment too soon. It is a spring that comes on the tail end of a very long hard winter and not everyone was able to create new businesses, so they are now rebuilding the businesses they had.

Spring is traditionally a time for new beginnings, but as many are still assessing the damage from the COVID-19 onslaught, they are less than encouraged to start again. The Father of our nation and our ex-President Nelson Mandela said of this: “After climbing a great hill one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”

Against seemingly impossible odds Mandela simply kept putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward. This is the time to sow the seeds that will be harvested as your revitalised business grows.

Sure, you might have to make some changes. Some things in business will never be the same again, but change can be a blessing in disguise. There can be huge savings made from more people working from home and benefits to society too. Less petrol, less traffic, less rental expense – the list goes on.

Certainly, there has also been a massive emergence of international trade! This is thanks to more online communication via virtual meetings and seminars that people from all over the globe can attend without massive travel costs.

One of the biggest changes, and one that has greatly benefitted many businesses, is the growth of outsourced services, particularly those with online expertise like Virtual Assistants.

The hiring of employees, often a tedious and tenuous business, costing companies far more than they need to pay, has been replaced by the services of good V.As who charge only for the services they provide and are no liability to the business.
