Everything is Information

Everything is Information

We live in an information age where knowledge and wisdom are available to everyone who wants it. There is an answer to every question we can think of and an opinion for every decision we make. Living within this realm of endless possibilities, we are truly blessed with everything we need for a successful and happy life. So the question emerges, “Why aren't we successful yet?”

One of the biggest challenges we face daily is how to interpret the messages coming from others. Our five senses govern our reality, and our emotions are governed by how we see, hear and feel. Our perceptions can either be our drivers or blockers for success.

We can’t ignore the fact that we make judgements about everything we see, hear and feel. The only thing that matters is the time delay between our actual experiences and the opinions we create for them. Imagine a scenario where someone’s behaviour always impacted you. What would happen if you weren’t triggered? Wouldn't your life be so much easier?

We always have a choice to listen to our emotional selves or be rational and disconnect from our feelings. Isn't it true that processing information is a lot easier than processing emotions?

Information can always be logically broken down, and we definitely have a choice to share and discuss it without our biases coming into the picture. It can be used to create actions and build a goal-oriented plan to achieve our outcomes. Every interaction with someone gives us “information” about how the other person thinks and if they are our well-wishers. “Information” provides us with lifelong learnings that we can use for creating win-win situations.

When you start noticing the difference between what's an "information" and what's your opinion about it, you will realise how you can achieve success faster and reach your goals sooner.

Self-Reflection Tips

  • Just for today, notice how events around you impact your emotions?

  • How are you interpreting the information and is it based on a rationale or a gut feeling?

  • What can you do differently to change your perspective and make it work for you?
