Employee Spotlight: First Generation College Celebration Day
Like many other immigrants who migrate in hopes of creating a better life, Jaleelat moved to Canada from Nigeria in 2009.
Although being a first-generation immigrant has presented many challenges, Jaleelat has seen that through her experiences she learned about responsibility and how to manage difficult situations from a young age.
"It is difficult to share many years of my life in a short paragraph, so I wrote this poem to not only share my experience, but also the feelings/experiences that may resonate with other first-generation immigrants" said Jaleelat.
