DEI strategy opens companies to a wider pool of talent!

Diversity, equity and inclusion are three significant and closely linked values held by innovative and supportive #employers with different groups of staff, including people of different race, physical ability, neurodiversity, religion, gender and sexual orientation.

DEI should play a significant part in any employers value proposition—given that 76% of individuals class a diverse workforce as an important factor when evaluating companies and job offers. Moreover, employees with a strong DEI agenda not only opens their company to a wider pool of top talent, but they can expect better health and better performance from that talent.

The tendency with diversity is to think of it only as racial, gender or ethnic and these are all important, but diversity in 'how people think' is key to generating more customers from new and different ideas.

#equity on the other hand is sometimes confused and in essence takes into consideration an individual's unique circumstances, adapted in the workplace so that the end result is equal. It's also overlooked by employers when thinking about their long term DEI strategies, particularly within schools at both Primary and Secondary level.

Given that 'Social Mobility' has emerged as a key area of #dei and schools are the best place to start to close the gap between the majority and minority groups, creating opportunities to address the inequality in educational learning and thereby enhancing cultural capital.
