We've got a few announcements for this month. December has been the perfect finale to what has been an incredibly busy and rewarding year for TekCom. These last few months, in particular, have been packed with milestones, events and exciting changes.

✨ Megan Rivera Started a New Role - Megan has been with TekCom since 2021 and started on our recruiting team. There was a need for more contractor support and with Megan's experience in building relationships, working with contractors on the recruiting side and already knowing our business felt like the perfect match! Megan is now supporting our Resource Manager with the back office, assisting with contractor onboarding and staying engaged with our team to ensure smooth transitions.

🎉 Ian Raddant gained his U.S. citizenship - The President of TekCom is originally from the UK and is proud to announce that he is officially an American citizen as of this month!

🎄 Mark Bright attended the Georgia Wireless Holiday Party - Our Regional Director of the Southern Region represented TekCom and had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and celebrate the season!

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR 2025: BEAD FUNDING & INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

As we look ahead to 2025, the broadband industry is set for a transformative year! And the talk of the town is the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. This federal initiative will help bridge the digital divide by funding the construction of broadband infrastructure in underserved areas. With billions of dollars in play, BEAD will be a catalyst for innovation and job creation.

Although all states and territories have received approval, BEAD funding will only begin flowing gradually this year. There is still significant groundwork to be done, including assembling teams and finalizing preparations, to ensure companies are ready to hit the ground running when the funds fully roll out. As a result, we anticipate 2025 will be an exceptionally busy and pivotal year for the industry.

Construction Managers will need to adapt to the complexities of working in diverse terrains, while Project Managers will play a vital role in navigating regulatory requirements, coordinating with multiple stakeholders and managing workforce logistics. As the race to meet BEAD program goals heats up, the industry will be looking for individuals with both technical expertise and strategic leadership skills.

We anticipate the hottest skill sets needed for 2025 to be OSP Construction Managers, Project Managers and the field crews performing aerial and underground fiber construction.

Beyond the plentiful job opportunities, 2025 will also be a year of rapid technological evolution. The focus on fiber as the backbone of broadband infrastructure reflects the growing need for scalable, reliable networks that can support next-generation applications. From telehealth to remote work and smart agriculture, the deployment of these fiber networks will have a ripple effect across industries and communities.

The BEAD program’s success depends on collaboration between public and private sectors, as well as a skilled and adaptable workforce. Companies that can efficiently scale their teams with experienced professionals will be better positioned to meet the program's ambitious goals. Having the right staffing partner will be critical in sourcing the talent needed to navigate the complexities of fiber construction projects and drive the industry forward.
