I have been waiting to write this article for quite sometime now and in the recent days I have been asked this question time and again during my travels and interaction with many organisations and I believe it’s the best time now to publish this piece

What is really happening in the Tech Industry currently?

As most of the organisations are working on their digital initiatives strategy and reducing costs, cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft and Google are looking to make the best use of this time and need. Many of them across the globe, including my very close friends had started doubting the existence or relevance of the Indian IT service providers.

Why is there a serious concern or a doubt?

Indian IT service providers are the pioneers of outsourcing and one of the most competitive advantages was always the price point and hence India has seen major Western organization signing these large outsource contracts especially for Infrastructure managed services. However over the years of working with practice leads of these IT service provides, I believe it’s more than just price that makes a difference.

Today majority of the infrastructure will be hosted on cloud and will the Indian IT service industry after major migrations need to be still present to be providing services is the big question.

Next Gen Services is the answer

Until an year or two organisations who are the customers of these large Indian IT companies did think that once they host their applications on cloud and store all their data in cloud there is no reason for them to be relying on a 3rd party taking care of their infrastructure anymore.

However in the last one year after I have had continuous discussions with the top practice leads of the Indian IT service providers, I have understood that there has been a growing concern of performance delivered and an uneasiness of administration, security etc. This clearly allows the Indian IT service provides to be still relevant

So what’s happening now in the Indian IT Service industry?

The Indian IT service industry has innovated itself by aligning all their service offering to a given organisations digital strategy and initiatives. If the western world is known for architecting and designing complex systems, the Indian IT companies can most certainly be known for architecting services. By providing great value.

The innovation in service offering is very unique and of course still very attractive in terms of price point.  The Indian IT service companies are definitely a testament to Indian innovation and experimentation and will always be relevant.

The Next Gen Indian IT services is certainly looking at various aspects such as follows

1.    Accelerated automation

2.    Machine learning

3.    Analytics 

4.     Proactive problem solving

Based on the initiatives as above, the business model has most certainly changed and there will be a huge change in the way people are recruited and hired for projects and we can have full faith that the Indian IT service industry will continue to grow and innovate.
