ARION Insights - Badge system
At ARION, our mission is to decode human movement, gaining insights into individuals and their unique ways of moving. With over a decade of research and development, and data from more than 90 million steps in our ARION database, we have honed our expertise in identifying key metrics for effective movement analysis.
ARION’s insights are tailored to provide individuals with a deeper understanding of themselves, aligning with their specific goals, whether it's improving performance or preventing injuries. In this series, we will delve into the various insights that ARION offers. This week, we will focus on the Badge system.
ARION’s AI calculates a badge system, where it highlights which shoe achieved best at performance and safety. For performance, we highlight a shoe that may help improve performance and efficiency, and aid in achieving goals. For safety, we highlight a shoe that can help lower the risk of sustaining an injury.
In the example graph, you can see that there are two different types of colors indicating the performance badge, gold and silver. With our system, we can measure which shoe scores higher compared to another shoe. As in the example below, you can see that shoe A showed a higher performance than shoe B.
Insights
The ARION insights can change whenever an individual changes into a different pair of shoes, adjusts their speed or runs on a different surface, and can even vary from step to step.
In ARIONHUB, we represent our badges at the top of an analysis. When an individual has tried two or more pairs of shoes, a badge system indicates which shoe performed best for the individual based on performance or safety.
In the example below, you can see that an individual has tried on two different types of shoes. Here we see that both shoes have different results, where the left shoe scores higher on performance (gold badge) and the right shoe scores higher on safety (gold badge) which would indicate that the left shoe would be a better fit for the individual to reach performance goals, and the right shoe would be a better fit for the individual if they would like to focus on safety goals.
It could happen that there is a split between the badges, as is shown in the example. Whenever this happens, it is important to listen to the individual, what areas they would like to improve and what their main goal is at that moment.
Our biomechanical experts can take the insights a step further with our series of Movement Reports. These reports involve testing multiple individuals at different speeds and with different types of shoes to gain a better understanding of how the shoes perform across different types of movement styles.
In the following example, our biomechanical experts delved deeper into our safety badge and visualized the achievements of three different shoes across different experience levels of the runner. The test results showed that experienced individuals benefited the most from shoe A, followed closely by shoe C. In contrast, less experienced recreational runners gained more benefits from shoe B.

Through the utilisation of our metrics, we are able to visualise patterns for an individual.
Remember, all of this technology and science is utilized for one very simple purpose. To provide individuals with a better understanding of themselves.
We are humans, not robots. It’s not just about the metrics, but also the meanings behind them and the relationships between them. Insights that are specific to our bodies, our techniques, and our goals. We believe that the best weapon to reduce, prevent and recover from injuries, is to have a better understanding of the problem and your own unique body and movement.
