PEO Summit Tackles Urgency, Delivering at Speed and Scale

The Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment recently hosted its semiannual Program Executive Office Summit. The forum allows senior acquisition leaders from across the services and United States Department of Defense (DoD) components to discuss common challenges, share best practices, and build relationships for improving the delivery of capability to our warfighters, allies and partners. Conversation throughout the summit was guided by four panels discussing DoD's Competitive Advantage Pathfinders, or CAPs, initiative; working with industry; lessons learned from the Adaptive Acquisition Framework; and perspectives from the service acquisition executive. FAR: Small Entity Compliance Guide Issued

The interim rule, published this week under the joint authority of the DoD, GSA and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, amends the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to implement the Government-wide certification requirement for service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) concerns seeking sole-source and set-aside awards under the SDVOSB Program, and a final rule adjusts the thresholds for the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement. DoD Small Business and Technology Partnerships Office Resources

The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) oversees the DoD Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs.

These competitive programs are Congressionally authorized set-asides established to encourage domestic small businesses to engage in research and development with the potential for commercialization. The SBIR/STTR programs support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of Federal research funds in critical American priorities to build a strong national economy and accelerate capabilities to the Warfighter.
