2024 round-up 🌱
It's been a big year for regenerative agriculture! From supply chain partnerships to advancements in the voluntary carbon market, 2024 has seen monumental developments in the regen revolution. Agreena celebrated a ground-breaking hectare achievement, pioneering collaborations with global food and drink companies and delivering cutting-edge solutions to financial institutions across the world.
In this issue, as an end of year exclusive, you can read Agreena CEO Simon Haldrup's reflections on this game-changing year, and get an insight into his plans and predictions for 2025.
Here are the key moments you need to know about from the past couple of months, as well as a look back at some milestones of the past year...
🌕 On World Soil Day, Agreena and Mars announced that they have partnered to scale regenerative agriculture across Hungary. Agreena's advanced digital Measurement, Reporting and Verification (dMRV) capabilities are providing verifiable data that is helping global supply chains transition to sourcing from regenerative farms — and supporting farmers in the process.
✅ Agreena's soil carbon programme has been verified for the third year running. DNV, an independent assurance and risk management provider, has officially confirmed that AgreenaCarbon continues to meet the international accounting standard ISO 14064-2. This confirms the authenticity, quality and traceability of the greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals generated by AgreenaCarbon farmers.
🇷🇴 IFC - International Finance Corporation and Agreena launched their ground-breaking partnership in September. In November, the two companies collaborated in Moldova and Romania, bringing finance professionals together with farmers at the IFC seminars. Discussions were focused on the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing between farmers, financial institutions and other stakeholders in scaling the adoption of regenerative agriculture.
🌍 Agreena is now actively working with more than 2,300 farmers to transition a total of 4.5 million hectares to regenerative agriculture across Europe – up by 2.5 million hectares in a year. The size of Agreena's farmer community demonstrates the effectiveness of the high integrity programme in both tackling the barriers faced by farmers, and collecting and verifying regen ag data at scale.
🇺🇸 The hot topic of this year’s #ClimateWeekNYC? Regenerative agriculture. Agreena took Manhattan by storm at the Climate Group’s global event, meeting with more than 50 companies during four days on the ground - and on rooftops across the city. Bringing together business leaders, policymakers and decision-takers, Agreena hosted two events at capacity, and sponsored three high-profile events in collaboration with key industry players.
Thank you for supporting Agreena this year.
As a company it's been our biggest year yet, and the same can be said for the sector - nature-based carbon removals are becoming a more urgent priority every year.
From supply chain actors to financial services providers and climate-conscious companies, we've diversified our solutions to help a wider range of industries achieve their sustainability goals, while deepening support for the farmers at the forefront of the regenerative revolution.
Personally, I'm super excited for 2025. We have big plans, partnerships and announcements in the works, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you!
On behalf of everyone at Agreena, I'd like to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
- Simon Haldrup, Agreena CEO
