Driving healthcare accessibility for Asia remains a core focus for our business, and we’re proud to be spearheading conversations around this with likeminded organisations and industry movers. Our CEO John A. Graham, alongside distinguished fellow panellists at Economist Impact’s Future of Health Asia 2024, discussed where the challenges and opportunities lie for Asia Pacific to improve its health equity and inclusivity. Key discussion points included: • Focusing on various communities, ensuring that none are left behind • Prioritising education and trainings to ensure healthcare professionals are equipped with skillsets and knowledge to manage health products • Fostering closer collaboration between public and private sector • Setting up robust policy framework that focuses on creating healthy living spaces Check out the highlights video below for some of the standout moments from the session. We look forward to championing more discussions around health equity and creating more opportunities for tangible change, so that communities in Asia can access the healthcare they need. It took a while, but here is the second essay on the #globalhealth series that I have written with my colleagues on the PwC platform. In this series, we focus on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) - a fundamental concept necessary for increasing accessibility to health for all. Japan being well known as the leaders in this field, we explore various types of UHC and roles Japan can play in establishing UHC across the globe - it’s a quick read, I hope there is something you can takeaway from it! https://lnkd.in/giTkJwWE

The significant difference in average lifespans between Pakistan (65 years) and Singapore (87 years) highlights disparities in healthcare systems, socioeconomic conditions, lifestyle choices, and government policies. Factors that contribute to Singapore’s longer lifespan include: 1. Advanced Healthcare System: Singapore has a world-class healthcare system with access to quality medical care, preventive health programs, and advanced technology. 2. Higher Standard of Living: Better nutrition, housing, and sanitation positively affect health outcomes. 3. Education and Awareness: High literacy rates and health education encourage healthier lifestyle choices. 4. Strong Public Health Policies: Initiatives in areas such as vaccination, urban planning, and environmental protection contribute to better overall health. In Pakistan, challenges include limited access to healthcare in rural areas, higher rates of communicable diseases, lower vaccination coverage, and underfunded public health systems. Improvements in education, healthcare infrastructure, and awareness campaigns could help bridge this gap over time.
