Mid-Year Reflections: Embracing the unexpected and quickly move forward As we reach mid-year, it’s a good time to reflect. During our work on a research project related to semi-autonomous vehicles, we faced several known and somewhat anticipated challenges. However, an unexpected issue caught us completely by surprise, teaching us a valuable lesson. The Unexpected Hurdle Despite our meticulous planning, we found that one of the features behaved differently in the real world than in the simulation. This discrepancy demanded an immediate pivot to Plan B. The Key Lesson Learned Run experiments more quickly to uncover unknown obstacles. Moving forward, we will adopt a more aggressive type of agile research by accelerating testing and prototyping in diverse conditions at a much faster rate. #IworkforGM #GMrs_lead #MidYearReflections #AutonomousVehicles #Innovation #Adaptability

ULTIMO project is working on the important task of paving the way for larger fleets of autonomous vehicles. This means that we need to find a way to overcome the current challenges and obstacles. To gather further expert knowledge in this field our partner Geneva School of Economics and Management - UNIGE together with Büro für Mobilität AG organised a workshop last week. The participants, all experts in the field of mobility, were given an introduction to our ULTIMO project and its objectives. They then were divided into groups. Each group drew up questions on various aspects of the AV deployment. Afterwards these questions were answered jointly. Also the challenges and obstacles in the provision of AV services were identified and clarified. Many thanks to all participants for their valuable contribution.
