If you are a disabled person in India - you better be rich! Because the city doesn’t care a fuck about you. Or more so doesn’t believe you exist or should be about in public places. Everytime I move around the city I’m startled and shocked by the absolute disregard for any kind of accessibility for persons who might be challanged - be it age, be it mobility or visual capacity. It is just fascinating how accessibility intervention appear and disappear and random locations across the city. Disjointed, without any kind of standardisation or consistency. And with seemingly little or no regard for how they fit into a larger city and need of a citizens with disability to navigate the city with a sense of freedom and empowerment. We talk of slow cities, of walking cities and neighborhoods, and inclusive and safe. But the city is anything but any of that for the most part. Some select parts of the city may provide those niceties but on the whole the city and its many designers and agencies couldn’t care less if you had disabilities- that’s your problem ! Tired of reading about conferences and urban vision, when all I see on the ground is shocking inadequate and seems to get worse every few months.

I truly believe and have faith that things do change for the betterment of our "NATION!".. However the light put out on these sensitive areas truly enlightened me as an "EDUCATOR"!
