Many women in South Africa have expressed that they don’t feel safe walking in the streets when wearing certain items of clothing. The Constitution says everyone has the right to freedom and security of the person, which includes the right— (a) not to be deprived of freedom arbitrarily or without just cause. Yet we always come across videos of women talking about harassment and abuse at the hands of male strangers while going about their life. Women in South Africa deserve to be protected simply because they are humans and the way any person is dressed is no justification for abuse and violence. Protecting vulnerable people should be a priority for lawmakers not what law abiding citizens do in their own home. We urge all South Africans to take the time to complete the Section 12 survey and drive their preferred political party to prioritise fighting violent crime ahead of the elections. 🔍 Complete the Section 12 Initiative survey here: https://bit.ly/49CHgOJ Video credit: Asiphile Vena, TikTok. #SaferSouthAfrica #CrimePrevention #SouthAfrica #LEAP #CPWs

As we commemorate the #16DaysOfActivism against Gender-based Violence, let us talk about technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). This form of violence, which includes online harassment, doxing, cyberstalking, and non-consensual sharing of intimate images, violates fundamental human rights. While technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) occurs in digital and online platforms, it often leads to physical violence. Cases of TFGBV are often unreported and are challenging to litigate. Today marks the end of the #16DaysOfActivism against GBV and is the #InternationalHumanRightsDay. TFGBV violates several rights including the right to privacy, human dignity, freedom of expression, and safety. Let us stand together to combat TFGBV and protect everyone's rights in the digital age. Let's keep it in mind that fighting GBV it's not only about the #16Days but it's an everyday task for you and me. #16Days #StopGBV #HumanRightsDay #EndGBV #PromotingDigitalSafety #StandUpForHumanRights Zimbabwe Information and Technology Empowerment Trust (ZITET) Amnesty International Zimbabwe WELEAD TRUST

Legislating that certain people deserve fewer human rights than others is unacceptable. We are deeply concerned and saddened by the passing of the #RwandaBill. Our strong opposition remains unwavering. We stand in solidarity with those who now face heightened fear for their future in the UK due to this unjust law. Consider Claudia's story: a survivor of sex trafficking in Scotland, yet facing deportation to Rwanda alongside her daughter. Despite being recognized as a victim of modern slavery, this bill ignores their safety and humanity. We must advocate for stronger protections for trafficking victims. Safe migration is crucial in combatting human trafficking, and it's imperative that we demand policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals like Claudia and her daughter. 📢 Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we stand united to end all forms of violence against women and girls. 🌍 Violence against women remains one of the most widespread human rights abuses in modern society, affecting millions worldwide. In 2022 alone, nearly 89,000 women and girls lost their lives to violence—most by intimate partners or family members. In Uzbekistan, over 72,000 cases of violence were reported in 2021-22, with 87% of cases happening within families. Psychological violence now surpasses physical violence in reported cases, highlighting an urgent need for comprehensive support and protection. 🛑 We can and must do more. It's time to strengthen legal protections, improve access to support services, and raise awareness to dismantle the barriers survivors face. Let us work together to build a future where every woman and girl lives free from violence. 📖 For survivors in need of guidance and support, explore our guidelines on primary legal assistance for gender-based violence survivors Let’s make justice and safety accessible for all. Injustice and violence against innocent civilians are issues that demand our attention and action. In this video, we explore the heartbreaking events where Bangladeshi police actions resulted in the loss of innocent lives. It's a somber reminder of the need for accountability, transparency, and reform in law enforcement. As we engage in this discussion, let's remember to approach it with empathy and a commitment to advocating for justice. This is not just about Bangladesh—it's a global issue that affects us all. Let’s use our voices to push for change and ensure that such tragedies are not repeated. Together, we can strive for a world where justice and human rights are upheld for all. #HumanRights #JusticeForAll #PoliceReform #Bangladesh #CivicResponsibility

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! How many more children and women in Ethiopia must endure unspeakable violence before real change is made? The brutal rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Dire Dawa and the recent abduction and killing of a 2-year-old girl in Gondar are not isolated incidents—they are the tragic outcomes of a failed system that refuses to protect its most vulnerable. We demand immediate legal reform to address the rampant violence against children and women in Ethiopia. The current laws and enforcement are not enough! The government must take bold, decisive action to end this nightmare, including: • Stronger penalties for perpetrators of sexual and violent crimes. • Faster legal processes to ensure justice is swift and certain. • Enhanced protections for children and women, with a focus on prevention and safety. No more empty promises. No more delays. We cannot sit back and watch as more lives are destroyed by this senseless violence. It’s time to reform our laws, strengthen our justice system, and hold those responsible accountable! Our children deserve better. Our women deserve better. Ethiopia deserves better. #JusticeForVictims #EndViolence #LegalReformNow
