Selection of Fill Fluids - Inert or Silicone based fluids (1/2) Diaphragm seal systems are hydraulic systems. The selection of the transmission or fill fluid for this system requires a careful review of the process conditions. The fill fluid characteristics impact to a large extent the diaphragm seal system performance in terms of temperature range and and vacuum, response time and temperature effects. Several fill fluid characteristics need to be taken into account to make the appropriate selection of the fill fluid. At first, the type of fill fluid is important as it should be compatible with the process medium. The most commonly used fill fluids are Inert or Silicone based fluids, but also other specific types of fluid may be used; all different specifications and characteristics to match different conditions. Inert fluids are either PFPE’s (Perfluoropolyether) or PCTFE’s (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene). They are typically used for chlorine and oxygen applications, because being inert, they will not react with the process in case of a diaphragm rupture. Silicon fluids could, once in contact with chlorine or oxygen, cause an explosion. Also, these PFPE’s and PCTFE’s can be used for application with extreme low process temperatures (down to -110°C); for those cases Badotherm recommend the use of a Temperature Compensator with a secondary silicon fill to reduce the ambient temperature effects. The downside of these inert fill fluids is that their factor of thermal expansion is ± 2 times the one of silicon fluids, so the temperature effects are almost double. Further, the density of inert fluids is ± 1.8 times the one of silicon fluids, so this should be considered to determine the required zero correction. Our web-based performance calculation tool Basecal can help in this respect. Crest Chemicals offers several practical solutions to the constant problem of corrosion. Corrosion degrades the useful properties of materials and parts including the strength, appearance, and permeability to liquids and gases. Crest corrosion inhibitors work to reduce the active process of corrosion. Whether it is an inhibitor to prevent flash rusting during manufacturing, adding a corrosion inhibiting seal to increase salt spray testing, or protecting a finished part from corrosion during shipping or storage Crest Chemicals has got you covered. We offer numerous possibilities for inhibiting corrosion, including; paintable corrosion inhibitors, chromated inhibitors and non-chromated inhibitors, water displacing oils, and water soluble oils. The type of corrosion inhibitor will be dependent upon the type of corrosion, duration of service, location of service, and the future finish possibilities of the part. #oilandgas #industrial #corrosion #chemicals #manufacturing #pipe #fabrications #metal #drilling https://lnkd.in/gBD4gNmN

❓ Question! Does siliconization of gas wetted parts make any difference? Continuous improvement in exhaust gas analysis demands supply systems that can handle test gases with extremely low ppm levels of nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and other molecules like sulfur and ammonia. The challenge lies in ensuring that the composition of these test gases remains unchanged from the cylinder to the analyser, and in preventing any chemical reactions between the corrosive mixtures and the surfaces of the supply system. 💡 To address this, the surfaces of the gas wetted components are coated with a thin layer of silicone via Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). This procedure prevents chemical reactions and maintains the integrity of the test gases. GCE adopted this practice while manufacturing our regulators to ensure accurate, reliable, and efficient performance. 💼 We now offer stainless steel single-stage 4- and 6-port pressure regulators and two-stage 7-port pressure regulators with coated internal parts. To answer the question, yes, siliconization does make a positive difference in exhaust gas analysis. So, enhance your process today with GCE's advanced pressure regulators. https://hubs.ly/Q02JlPlc0 #GCESpeciality #Siliconization #GasSupplySystems #PressureRegulators

There are a number of reasons for a cylinder to fail while in service from abuse, misuse, manufacturing flaws, and internal corrosion. A number of gases can react with moisture to produce corrosive media that could react with the cylinder material and lead to a cylinder failure. The number of incidents resulting from internal corrosion is relatively small compared to the number of cylinders in service because the industry follows procedures to reduce moisture in cylinders. A publication by MEGA on their website https://lnkd.in/dFBt863n ref Doc.56/24/E gives methods to avoid and detect internal gas cylinder corrosion, check it out! Get in touch ! Steel-lined PTFE pipe, also known as steel-lined polytetrafluoroethylene pipe (PTFE), is a composite pipe that is lined with a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material on the inner wall of a steel pipe, combining the strength of the steel pipe with the corrosion resistance of the PTFE material. Advantages: Excellent corrosion resistance: PTFE material has extremely strong corrosion resistance and can withstand almost all chemical media (such as strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents, etc.), making it an ideal choice for the transportation of corrosive media such as chemicals and pharmaceuticals. High temperature resistance: PTFE materials can work stably in a wide temperature range, generally withstanding temperatures from -100°C to +250°C, and are suitable for high and low temperature environments. Non-adhesiveness: PTFE has an extremely low friction coefficient and excellent non-adhesiveness, which can prevent the medium from adhering to the inner wall of the pipe and reduce scaling and clogging problems. Aging resistance: PTFE materials have good anti-aging properties and can be used for a long time without aging or performance degradation due to factors such as light and oxygen. Good insulation performance: PTFE is an excellent electrical insulation material, so it also has advantages in certain applications with electromagnetic interference or requiring anti-static. High mechanical strength: The outer shell of the steel pipe provides high mechanical strength, can withstand certain pressure and impact, and is suitable for high-pressure transmission systems. This composite pipe is widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental protection and other industries, especially in situations where highly corrosive media need to be transported.
