You can't think of your channel as a non-stop brand channel. It is like the weather, if people want to know about it they look it up. Outside of some weatherheads and stormchasers most people don't stare at the Weather channel day in and day out. Social media should be managed as a TV channel. You create layers of valuable content (shows) and you can run commercials (branded content) in between. You have to retain the audience (shows). Audiences on TV are not their for the commercials (branded content). Just this one understanding can change the growth of your social channels. Here is a tip from my portion of Bridge The Digital Gap study from THE KEENFOLKS where they brought 39 world-class experts together to talk about the key areas of digital marketing. 'Har koi peera. Lahori Zeera'. ❤️ Whatever happened to taglines? I don't watch much of TV. My new ad campaign info comes from social media, ad portals, YouTube and streaming services. I feel the ad industry doesn't invest behind ownable properties for brands - especially taglines. Can't remember any new ones. I guess that's replaced with the hashtag madness. No ad seems to be complete without a random (often hard to decipher) hashtag. And there's an urge to try new things all the time, including moment marketing - hence it all feels like a series of tactical ads through the year, without a single 'thematic' campaign. Good taglines have the knack of summing up the brand proposition, the promise. Taglines create a powerful memory hook, aiding recall. When used with the brand name, it is unique - no fear of mis-attribution. What's not to like? What are the new brand taglines that are good, popular? #advertising
