Women's Elite Rugby (WER) has launched the first professional women’s rugby league in the U.S., set for its debut season in 2025 🇺🇸🏉 With the "Ignite the Change" campaign, WER aims to evolve the rugby landscape, providing domestic opportunities for elite athletes. 🏆 Plans include six to eight teams in the first season, with potential conversion of existing clubs to professional organizations. Rosters are expected to consist of 30 players per franchise 💪 "The consensus was that this amateur, pay-to-play model is really no longer sustainable. U.S. elite players are traveling overseas to compete, and we want to evolve the rugby landscape and create opportunities for those elite athletes to really play domestically while being compensated," said WER President Jessica Hammond-Graf, Ed.D. 📰 > https://ow.ly/n0LY50Rem7z

Sale FC Club Statement Sale FC and the undersigned Clubs of @National League 1 Rugby are collectively calling for a root and branch review. Independent of the current RFU Council, Board and Executive, into the governance, setup and the management of Rugby in England. Given the current state of the game and substantial challenges facing the sport we love, the National 1 Clubs believe there needs to be a wide-reaching review of how Rugby is organised in England including understanding whether the governance of the National side and Professional game needs to be fully split from the Semi-Pro and Amateur game. We believe that recent events have shown that change is required and that there have been major failures in governance and in leadership. The RFU Council and Board are complicit both in the lack of accountability and governance that the member clubs expect them to exercise, and, alongside the RFU leadership, in the lack of clarity and strategy for the development of rugby in England. We note that there will be an emergency meeting of the RFU Council on 18 December. We call upon the members of the RFU council to use this as an opportunity to instigate an independent review of the management of Rugby in England. The National 1 Clubs will act individually when it comes to arguing for or voting on any no-confidence motions that might arise either at that meeting or at any subsequent SGM of the RFU. Blackheath Rugby, Darlington Mowden Park RFC, Dings Crusaders RFC, Esher Rugby, Leicester Lions Rugby Club, Plymouth Albion RFC, @Rams RFC, Richmond FC, Rosslyn Park FC, Rotherham Titans RUFC, Sale FC, SEDGLEY PARK TIGERS RUFC.

We do what we do best. When everyone talks we play the game. Simple
This is always the thing when outsiders come in and steal the show. I spoke about this on a panel recently—The journey of South African teams in European rugby competitions has sparked loads of criticism. This is after the Stormers won the first United Rugby Championship and the Sharks triumphed in the Challenge Cup this year. It's tough being the new kid on the block. We've faced scheduling challenges and logistical issues, but we've also shown that we can play with the big dogs even when not at full strength. Some of the remarks against us have been outright petty. We deserve our place at the table.

⚽ Unlike individual sports with long preparatory periods for single competitions, team sports have short preparatory periods for extended competitive seasons. This prolonged competition phase challenges the maintenance of peak performance. ➡ This distinction is crucial: football, for example, contrasts with individual sports as it entails a short preparation and a long competition, emphasizing the importance of managing training and performance differently. #strengthandconditioning #football #sports
