#IAC2024 IEIT SYSTEMS highlight that as they grow LLMs will reach a point where they can no longer rely on publicly available data. High quality industry data is also not available publicly. As the data available on the internet is exhausted, how do we give LLMs access to private data? Does a data market finally form or is it every man for himself? #LLMs Sandy Liu Shen W. Another important connection made with colleagues who are ramping up for the CMMC rule becoming effective in the foreseeable future. #Exostar and #KLCconsulting's Kyle Lai gave us a quick run-down on preparations. It cannot be over-emphasized, the importance of getting started early. Lead times from the moment of contract signing until the date of the assessment can be anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks (or more, depending on complexity). This means that CMMC will require approx five to six months at a minimum for most organizations. Preparing your documentation needs a protracted amount of lead time, and most likely a consultant to help guide your team through the objectives to ensure adequacy of the artifacts submitted for pre-assessment review. The procurement process, to select, negotiate and contract with the #C3PAO to perform the assessment, will also likely take between 2 to 3 months, depending on how long you wait to get started. The longer the wait, the longer it takes as teams increasingly busy and the queue builds. For vendors that provide everything but COTS to the DOD, where your contract fulfillment requires sub-contractors, and those subs have sub-contractors, it's time to get started right away. I recommend running the algorithm to determine your total supply chain lead time. It would be unfortunate if you got disqualified because a sub- of a sub- of a sub- failed to have their SPRS scores updated and you then lose a critical component of your deliverable. ___________________________________________________________ Effective Date of March 26th, 2024 in acquisition.org you'll find, re: 204.7503, "Requirements: The Contractor shall have a current (i.e. not older than 3 years) CMMC certificate at the CMMC level required by this contract and maintain the CMMC certificate at the required level for the duration of the contract." and, for your sub-contractors --> "2) Prior to awarding to a subcontractor, ensure that the subcontractor has a current (i.e., not older than 3 years) CMMC certificate at the CMMC level that is appropriate for the information that is being flowed down to the subcontractor."
Just finished the #Exostar hosted 'Insider Insight' with Kyle Lai as guest speaker from Houston-based #C3PAO #KLCconsulting. Great conversation! Of course as always, there simply wasn't nearly enough time to cover the full range of #CMMC scoping and #CMMCassessment questions from approx. 200 attendees. Wish there was an AI that could stretch time by at least 50%. :^ ) A lot of really nice tools and tips were shared, with links to #KLC 's CMMC Toolkit, as well as a slew of hyperlinks that'll keep everyone busy researching all the updates given the new #CMMC2 and #CMMCproposedrules that are coming down the pike. An interesting question was addressed about how our #USMCA trade partners (Canada specifically) will be able to get certified and update their #CAGEcodes in #SPRS so they maintain eligibility. Short story, Canada is working on a compliance program comparable (and perhaps compatible) to CMMC that may be a near-equivalent. But, the details for this are still being ironed out. So, stay tuned for updates in the coming quarters if this fits into your scenario. Again, a huge #ThankYouExostar, #ThankYouKyleLai and #ThankYouKLCconsulting for the time, energy, and resources y'all shared with us today! Super cool, and very helpful.
