Today we had a group of students from Utah Valley University tour our Mt. Nebo farm in Mona, UT. The students got to learn about farm operations and Seed to Seal process. They also visited our new Village Inn event center and learn about that side of the farm. We’re excited to have them visit our Global Headquarters office in the coming weeks.
It's fantastic to see education intersecting with real-world experiences! Providing students with insights into farm operations and the Seed to Seal process not only enriches their understanding but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the journey from seed to product. And exploring the new Village Inn event center adds another layer of insight into the multifaceted aspects of your farm. Looking forward to hearing about their visit to the Global Headquarters office – what a comprehensive learning experience!

Just released from American Forests: a special short documentary called "Year of the Cone." It follows our crew working in Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, and their work to survey and monitor cone development.
Did You Know: There's a narrow 3-4 week window in which cones are ready to harvest, and thanks to their efforts, we currently have a specialized climbing crew down there that is collecting the thousands of cones that will one day become forests that cover former severe burn scars!
With your support, AF is working with partners on the ground to build up the national supply of seed:
🌱 We are bringing land managers, seed orchards, and contractors together to study seed shortages and coordinate to build networks of partners dedicated to growing seed supplies.
🌱 We are managing wild seed collection on forest landscapes across the nation.
🌱 We are growing and training an entirely new workforce of seed and cone collectors.
🌱 In urban areas, we are enlisting the help of our local communities to help build seed supplies.
🌱 We are also investing in innovative solutions to scale up our seed orchards – which can provide a stable source of seed for decades.

The cicadas are coming! Many midwestern and southeastern states can expect a "Double Brood" of cicadas this year, which means two separate cicada broods will emerge from underground following their 13- and 17-year cycles. Because of their mathematically offset emergences, both broods only co-emerge like this once every 221 years!
Fortunately, the cicada broods won't overlap much geographically. . . but Illinois sure will be loud this year! More at Almanac.com/Cicadas
