✨🧐❓✨ Did you know that the red poppy symbolizes both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future? For many, the poppy's significance as a symbol of remembrance stems from its prevalence in the landscapes of the First World War, where the flowers would often emerge on battlefields in the wake of conflict, spurred by the disturbed soil. Poppies hold deep cultural significance as symbols of remembrance across various cultures and contexts. Throughout history, poppies have symbolized a myriad of concepts, including sleep, death, peace, and rebirth. In Greek mythology, they were revered as sacred symbols associated with goddesses and characters such as Demeter, Hypnos, Nix, and Thanatos. Their association with sleep is famously depicted in "The Wizard of Oz," where Dorothy and her companions succumb to slumber in a field of poppies. In Egyptian culture, poppies are linked to Osiris, the god of death and agriculture. Poppies are also seen as representing "loyalty and faith between lovers" in Chinese folklore. This is part of my "Flowers around the World" series, where I illustrate flowers and delve into their stories and cultural significance. Which flower would you like to explore next? 🌸💐🌺🌷🌻🌼 #art #culture #meaning #flower #creation #illustration #design #illustrator #creativity #nature #digital #symbol #symbols #poppy #plant #symbolism

🤔❤️🩹 Did you know“peony” actually means “to heal” in Latin & Greek? This flower is not only visually stunning, it is also believed to have healing properties. They are associated with the Greek god of healing and medicine. The white peony is one of the oldest remedies in traditional Chinese medicine, its roots, seeds, and flowers help improve blood flow, pain, hyperpigmentation, and mood disorders. In Greek mythology, the peony is named after Paeon, a student of the Greek god of medicine and healing – Asclepius. According to Greek myth, Asclepius became jealous of his pupil’s talents and wished him harm. However, Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower. In another version of the story, the god Apollo was besotted with a nymph called Paeonia. Unfortunately, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, was jealous of this attachment and turned Paeonia into a flower, which became the peony. The beautiful peony is the most celebrated flower in Eastern tradition. Her story of dignity has been cherished for thousands of years. In the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907 AD), Empress Wu Zetian, ordered a hundred flowers to bloom during the winter, but the peony was the only flower that would not bloom. The Empress was enraged and banished the peony from the capital city of Chang’an to the city of Luoyang. Once the peonies reached Luoyang, they bloomed beautifully. The Empress then ordered all the peonies to be burnt, but even though they were all burnt, they grew right back the next year. The peony flowers also have many meanings: They symbolize prosperity, good fortune, honor, nobility, compassion, peace, and happiness and encourage a happy marriage. It can even mean bashfulness! This flower is created by hand using Adobe illustrator & Apple trackpad. Thank you Sabrina for nominating it 😍❤️ This is my “Flowers around the World” Series, where I draw them and tell their stories and cultural significance. What flower would you like to see next? 🌸💐🌺🌷🌻🌼 #art #culture #meaning #peony #asia #asian #greek #china #flower #myth #chinese #creation #illustration #design #illustrator #create #creativity

Motifs, Markings and Maps intriguing road markings and motifs can confuse even the most learned ones! On reflection, one of the most respected roles and valued skills, even among hunter gatherers and throughout the pre industrial societies, was that of trackers, then fast forward to the impact of diviners, priests and divination, as well as our new found breed of #futurists. Reading the signs is both an #art, #science, #faith and sometimes plain #gumption! Many rely on intuition or a sixth sense or divine divine direction. Many contract out the interpretation of what the beads, cowries or the tea leaves say. In a complex world with so many signs that could mean so many things, a node star is required. All roads must lead somewhere, for many it leads #home. #keepitsimple.

Twas The Night Before Christmas I love the lights of Christmas and I hope you do as much as I do. The Christmas tree, a central symbol of Christmas celebrations, has both historical and spiritual meanings. Its origins and purpose blend ancient traditions with Christian symbolism: Meaning and Origins Pre-Christian Roots: The use of evergreen plants to symbolize life and rebirth dates back to ancient times. In pagan traditions, such as those of the Celts and Scandinavians, evergreen trees were used during the winter solstice as a sign of hope for the return of spring. Romans decorated their homes with evergreen branches during Saturnalia, a festival celebrating the god Saturn. Christian Adoption: In medieval Germany, "Paradise Trees" (evergreens adorned with apples) were used in mystery plays to represent the Garden of Eden and the fall of man. These trees eventually evolved into what we now recognize as Christmas trees. The triangular shape of the tree was later interpreted by Christians as representing the Holy Trinity. Purpose Spiritual Symbolism: The evergreen tree represents eternal life, a reflection of Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life for believers. Lights and ornaments can symbolize Christ as the light of the world, the joy of salvation, and the blessings of life. Cultural and Social Role: The tree serves as a focal point for family gatherings and holiday celebrations, fostering community and togetherness. It embodies the spirit of giving, as gifts are often placed under its branches. A Reminder of Faith: For many, the Christmas tree is a visual reminder of the nativity story, God's creation, and the celebration of Jesus' birth. Over time, the Christmas tree has become a universal symbol of joy and festivity, transcending religious boundaries while still holding profound meaning for Christians and others who honor its traditions. 🤔 Thought of the day: If I had to communicate via 3000-year-old rock carvings what would I write? OK, technology have advanced since my ancestors did rock carvings (Swedish: hällristningar). These are from a visit this week to Tanum at the west coast of Sweden, an UN world heritage site with over 600 known rock carvings. They are believed to originate from the bronze age (1700-500 BC), but nobody is around to tell for sure 😉 . They were done over a 800-year period so many generations carving ships, people, and other symbols. Imagining that after thousands of years and many generations these pictures are still is sending a long-lost message through the ages is mind-blowing 🤯. Petroglyphs, a time-consuming and challenging art form, required crafting bronze tools, selecting granite spots, and painstakingly carving by hand. I am confident that they knew what to write before they started. It was not just another LinkedIn post. Fun fact: Our ancestors that lived 3000-years ago had the same apperance and brain capacity as we do. If we would dress them up in modern clothing, we would not be able to distinguish them from any of us if we met in the city street. Maybe it would become obvious when we started talking? 😊 Documenting our knowledge is crucial; what we don't preserve is lost in time. Learning from each other's history and experiences is invaluable. What is not understood, nor possible to explain later, like the Tanum rock carvings - are equally lost in time. There is so much we could learn from each other if we could communicate across the ages. The intriguing question remains: what would our Bronze Age ancestors post or tweet if they had access to today's digital technology and social media platforms? 🤯 #History #AncientWisdom #Communication #BronzeAge #DigitalAge

CHAMELEONS Chameleons for the most part live in the tropical jungles and deserts of Africa. The shade of their skin assists them with mixing in with their living spaces. Chameleons that hang out in trees are typically green. Those that live in deserts are most frequently brown. They frequently change tone to heat up or chill off. (Turning hazier warms the creatures in light of the fact that the dim varieties retain more intensity.) They additionally change shades to speak with different chameleons, utilizing splendid tones to draw in expected mates or caution adversaries. So how precisely do chameleons change tones? The external layer of their skin is transparent. Underneath that are layers of unique cells loaded up with shade — the substance that gives plants and creatures (counting you) variety. To show another variety, the mind communicates something specific for these cells to get greater or more modest. As this occurs, colors from various cells are delivered, and they blend in with one another to make new complexions. For example, red and blue shade might blend to make the chameleon look purple. Chameleons mostly live in the rain forests and deserts of Africa. The color of their skin helps them blend in with their habitats. Chameleons that hang out in trees are usually green. Those that live in deserts are most often brown. #chameleons #Pianolessons #actingclasses #vocallessons https://lnkd.in/g2fBiQYR

🌟 A Path of Devotion 🌟 In a quaint village nestled between mountains and meadows, there lived a humble artisan named Maya. Each day, she would wake before the sun and immerse herself in the craft of pottery, her hands molding the clay with a grace that seemed almost divine. But Maya’s work wasn’t just about creating beautiful pieces—it was an act of devotion. Every pot she crafted, every detail she etched, was done with a silent prayer, a whispered intention to honor the divine. To her, this wasn’t just pottery; it was a sacred ritual, a way to infuse the mundane with the sacred. One day, a traveler passing through the village noticed Maya at work and asked, "Why do you put so much love into each piece? After all, it's just clay." Maya smiled and replied, "Whatever you do, let it be an act of devotion to the divine. In this way, the ordinary becomes extraordinary." Her words carried a deep wisdom that resonated with the traveler, reminding him that no matter the task, when approached with devotion, it transforms into something far greater. ✨ Let Maya's story inspire you to approach your daily tasks with love and intention. What can you turn into an act of devotion today? Share your thoughts and spread the message of sacred living! 🙏 #PrismVibes #DevotionInAction #SpiritualWellness

Purple Hyacinths: Purple hyacinths carry a message of deep regret and sorrow, asking for forgiveness. They're often given as a sign of longing or to express a sense of sorry. In this context, they serve as a poignant reminder of the tragic tale of Apollo and Hyacinthus. https://lnkd.in/dgitg4cM. What does the hyacinth symbolize? Symbolism. The hyacinth is the flower of the sun god Apollo and is a symbol of peace, commitment and beauty, but also of power and pride. The hyacinth is often found in Christian churches as a symbol of happiness and love. From a colour psychology perspective, purple promotes harmony of the mind and the emotions, contributing to mental balance and stability, peace of mind, a link between the spiritual and the physical worlds, between thought and activity.
