One of the most intriguing (and certainly challenging) problems to solve for large companies is how to balance the implementation and enforcement of standards for technical processes and tooling, while still giving autonomy and independence to individual teams. There are valid reasons that teams use "best of breed" point-solutions (or particular scripting languages for that matter). But when it comes time to declare that every team should follow certain practices for the sake of security, compliance, change-control, or delegating through self-service, the decentralized nature of tooling and processes impedes the ability to enforce these standards. And nobody wants to be the person to "stifle velocity and innovation." Helping customers find the balance of these two "opposing forces" has become one of the most valuable drivers for an orchestration platform like PagerDuty's Runbook Automation and has certainly led to some of the most engaging conversations with customers.
