This month, Xtek was proud to participate in the IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show, held in Chicago, IL, September 9 -14. This year’s show was attended by almost 90,000 people, including over 14,000 students. Xtek partnered with Shibaura Machine, one of over 1,700 exhibitors at the show. The Shibaura display allowed attendees to see some of the size and capabilities of parts that these machines are able to produce. 🧠 I learned a ton this week attending the IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show... 1. Manufacturing Technology as its own space is massive. Absolutely blown away at what is happening here. Quickbase was one of 3500 vendors attending, and just having the opportunity to walk around the software section (which made up about 25% of the entire show) there is so much being done with tech to enhance the manufacturing world. 2. Probably 8 out of 10 people I talked to, when I asked "So what are you doing to track all your work?" responded by telling me "It's all in our ERP." It was at the point where Software and ERP almost felt like interchangeable terms. I don't know if this is unique to Manufacturing or not, but I found it interesting. The Status Quo appears to be "Load it up in the ERP" if there's data that requires being tracked. 3. If you're going to be a vendor at something like IMTS, you better be ready to stand out. A boilerplate, minimal "here's a table with some informational packets and a human to talk to" is missing out on a chance to connect with thousands of attendees who are there, browsing for what they don't know. It doesn't need to be a heavy spend (to which I'll say, holy $#!+ there were some incredibly nice booths set up). Creativity is essential for those without deep pockets here. 4. To that end, being a part of the Status Co booth for three days was incredible. For three days I told people that it didn't make sense to speed up workflows and increase efficiency. Nothing's really wrong, right? We just have to spend some or most of our time finding information. That's just the way work is so why change? There were many conversations where the audience didn't get the joke because it's too real in their own organization. Quickbase recently did a study showing over half of the respondents say its harder to be productive today than it was a year ago: https://lnkd.in/eCAMuAsk I can tell you from speaking to hundreds of people in Manufacturing this week, this is 100% the truth. Most, not all, were feeling this. The few that weren't seem to be removed entirely from any form of data entry or data needs. 5. Combining points #3 and #4, a creative marketing approach allowed for a memorable experience. The people who went through the Status Co "speakeasy" entrance to the Quickbase booth had a different experience there than they did anywhere else. Hopefully that experience, combined with seeing a great product demo on our new suite of offers, allows for Quickbase to impact for of the Manufacturing industry in the near future. 6. McCormick Place in Chicago is a massive universe. My step count this week 📈 . Bring comfy shoes.

Our latest outcomes in industrial digitalisation have been presented in the two conferences recently. During IC-MPPE conference in Leoben, the topic of greener production and industrial digitalisation has been presented, while in LMPC2024 conference, performance of data models for both web-based advisory platforms and digital twin/shadow have been discussed. In the meantime, the application of data science for material additive manufacturing design and controlling are recently published as pre-print at: https://lnkd.in/d96MaEaA
