Last month, Xtek employees gathered to celebrate the return of Cool Cars Day, an event where employees show off their own “cool cars” at Xtek’s very own car show. The weather was perfect, and the cars were - in fact - cool.
Thanks to our Cool Cars Day committee, there were 31 cars in Xtek’s south lot for employees to view during lunch and cast their votes for the Best of Show. It was a challenge to pick a favorite since we had a wide variety of cars – from a 1928 Ford Model A Special Couple to a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R.
The first place honors went to a 1964 Shelby Cobra, second place went to a 1960 MG MGA, and last but not least, third place went to a 2010 Shelby Cobra Mustang.
It was certainly a day to remember, and we can't wait for next year's Cool Cars Day!
Great idea and great looking cars. Xtek’s engineering and equipment making capabilities have played a major role in car manufacturing around the world for a century. An amazing story.

Volkswagen. It means the people’s car.
We are all so excited to announce the launch of our brand new campaign, YourWagen – A celebration of the people who drive our cars and the unique relationships & roles Volkswagen models have played in their lives.
Whether it’s a HolidayWagen, SwimWagen or even LaurasWagen, we will explore the heart-warming connections that people develop over time with their cars.
We have all been working so hard for months to bring YourWagen to life, and we are all excited to see the multi-media campaign go live today! This is a UK idea that will become a global campaign later in the year.
What makes it even more special is that it only features genuine VW customers and fans, it is 100% authentic, and always will be. And it has been an absolute joy finding the most incredible stories and an honour to work with such lovely people.
There is loads more to come later in the year including an amazing opportunity for Volkswagen fans to make their cars truly unique. If you’d like to be among the first to know more about that, sign up on our web page. https://lnkd.in/ewGeDJyG
But first, have a look at our launch TV advert that will be broadcast across the UK tonight in Britains Got Talent, and over the coming weeks, showcasing real Volkswagen drivers, real cars and real love - because without the Volks, there is no Wagen.

In a world where speed often steals the spotlight, what truly wins the race: flashiness or reliability?
In this modern version of the tortoise and the hare, Mercedes is likely using the story to highlight the endurance and reliability of its AMG model compared to flashy, fast cars. The tortoise represents the AMG, steady and consistent, while the hare symbolizes other high-performance vehicles. It's a clever way to emphasize the AMG's qualities in a familiar and relatable context.

As we approach our 15 year anniversary in 2025 we wanted to celebrate our favourite supercars, cars that we think have defined the Supercar we know today, for a cover feature of issue 50 of the Supercar Driver magazine.
All the models have earned their place in Supercar (and Supercar Driver) history.

What are your thoughts❓Would you have an electric car❓
If Porsche make some of the best built cars what about other manufacturers?
Have you also heard possible bans on underground carparks and multi-storey car parks?

It's two years or so since Dario Franchitti drove a mule of the T50 based on an Ultima, following a tradition established in 1991 when Ron Dennis, Harold Dermott and Gordon Murray arrived at Lee Noble's premises in a black BMW.
https://lnkd.in/eWA2gC6F
Back then McLaren Cars purchased a pair of Ultima cars (later named Albert and Edward) to perform practical testing of various kinds. You can read more if you are able to find a second hand copy of Doug Nye's book 'Driving Ambition'.
Nowadays it seems somewhat 'exotic' to use the Ultima as a mule due to its desirability as a road car, but if you're doing a very limited super/hypercar then it probably forms a good starting point.
For numerous years the company was run by Ted Marlow and son Richard, who is now the MD. The tradition was very much followed also during the development of the MP4-12C as this photo documents. Ultima were always keen to help. Ferrari were ... not too happy about the usage of a 360 but that's a story for another time.
As a note, there ARE Ultimas out there with some bespoke V10 and V12 engines installed by their owners, in case the T50 has inspired anyone to spec their own mid-engined driver-focused car. It goes to show that a company started in Leicester and lovingly cared for can make technology that allows advanced R&D in the sector of supercars and hypercars.
