THE POWER OF A DECISION. "2% of the people Think! 3% of the people Think they Think 95% of the people would rather die than Think" (Bob Proctor) Four reasons why decision making was easy for me. As a Platoon Chief and an Incident Commander decisions must be made without hesitation or else people could die. I found many people struggled with making a Decision but for me, it came very easy. Here are the 4 tips on how decision making can made more efficient and more effective. 1. Have a Clear and Concise GOALS. When your goals are clear, decisions become easy. My Goal first and foremost was the Health and safety of my personnel. Everyone goes home alive. Why risk things if it was not necessary. Sometimes the best offence is a good Defence. 2. Health and safety of the public. (see #1) 3. Access the risk level. A Majority of people are scared to make a decision because they are afraid it will be the wrong one. By knowing your risk level, You will find out a whole lot sooner if it was the right decision or wrong decision. But no decision at all can be costly. (see 1&2) 4. Mitigate the Emergency. This is always the end GOAL, Keep the end in mind. what's the most efficient and effective way to Mitigate the situation. To be honest, at first, seeing employers’ processes and outdated methods for managing their teams to be as less productive as they ever could be! —which they firmly believed were correct and efficient—or their approach to their product lifecycle strategies and using obsolete marketing methods would shock me. But these days, more than being painful, I find it strangely amusing and can’t help but laugh. Today, after reading this article by Masih Heidarizadeh, I was reminded of this quote by Karl Marx: “History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce.” So, we either learn from history, or… The history repeats itself! 🔍 Participatory leadership as a mask or the fear of letting go of control? 🤔 Recently, I met with a company where the partners attended a session to align their objectives. But instead of focusing on the main goal, each partner started to "test" my expertise with questions that diverted the discussion. After receiving insights into the company and personal dynamics, they opted for 1-on-1 meetings, seeking individual partnerships rather than group collaboration. Why? Most probably, a fear of letting go of control. 💡 I noticed a common pattern: 1. the Rescuer – The participatory leader, appreciated for creating opportunities but afraid to delegate or let go of control. 2. the Productive Victim – The associate, hardworking yet avoiding confrontation, missing chances for improvement. 3. The Persecutor – The client, demanding quick, cheap solutions, undervaluing the work required. 🔄 Like in a family, these approaches could represent: 1) a Parent (Rescuer) – The leader who provides protection but struggles to delegate, fearing chaos without their oversight. 2) Child (Victim) – Productive but fearful of confrontation, hiding behind overwork rather than addressing real issues. 3) Adult (Client) – Knows what they want but, under pressure, can push for unrealistic expectations. ✨ The solution? Real participatory leadership. Leaders need to let go of control and create a space for collaboration. Leadership that thrives on trust, delegation, and support empowers teams to take responsibility throug 🌟 My approach I guide companies through comanagement coaching processes to break this dynamic of rescuer-victim-persecutor, building autonomous teams: > Rescuers become leaders who empower and delegate effectively. > Victims learn to communicate openly and contribute proactively. > Clients align their expectations for win-win outcomes. 💡 Key takeaway True transformation requires the engagement of all key employees. If only a few work towards change, the system remains stuck. Everyone in charge must be involved for lasting change. 📈 So, is your leadership truly participatory, or are you still holding on to control? 🔗 Let's talk about how we can break the pattern and create a productive, autonomous team. https://lnkd.in/dm7nZ2AP. #LeadershipOfPerceptions #IonPitoiuCoaching #CoachingInTheMirror #ParticipatoryLeadership #AutonomyInLeadership #OrganizationalTransformation
