Changes are happening so quickly in today’s world of work. This has made today’s professional space incredibly turbulent. There’s more competition, there’s a lot more turnover and it’s a little harder to thrive when you don't have the right tools around you. But over the past several years of being able to chat with seasoned experts in the Trusted Authority podcast, I’ve learned so much about how to really navigate this ever-changing landscape. I remember the story of a professional athlete turned serial entrepreneur whose story emphasises why resilience and brave decision-making are very important. Transitioning through careers, facing down financial crises, and navigating startup challenges, I’ve learned that we need to approach any challenge today with a good handle on pressure. What I also want to add to this is the importance of focusing on data when it comes to making BIG decisions. Learning from every setback and using those lessons to inform future choices is an obvious need. But to actually be at the top of the professional chain, there’s a benefit to adapting to challenges with grace and agility. I hope that like it has for me, those conversations built your resilience and made you try to improve your decision-making skills. There’s a big change across all industries almost every single day so more than just fighting through adversity, we need to leverage the changes to lead us to success in today’s world of work. Andy shares with host, Nicky Acuna Ocana, his peripatetic journey to becoming a leader in the field of marketing and business development for professional services. Pioneering his practice at a time when the ROI was not yet fully understood, he has nurtured teams built on hard-won lessons, adaptability and communication. Find out how his vision and constant pursuit of value-add through relationship-building have enabled Andy to grow throughout his career, breaking barriers again and again. “The value that I add internally takes me through that glass ceiling” says Andy. “It doesn’t matter what you do. Jim Keyes, the former CEO of both 7-Eleven and Blockbuster, shared valuable insights into success. Let’s break down his wisdom and the C-Suite of Learning: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭: ✓ CEO: Change Equals Opportunity. Responding effectively to change matters. Anticipate it, leverage your team’s knowledge, and execute well-defined plans. ✓ Confidence: Preparation breeds confidence. ✓ Clarity and Simplicity: Communicate clearly. A complex plan won’t succeed if no one understands it. 𝐇𝐨𝐰: ✓ Critical Thinking: Always ask “why.” Engage in thoughtful analysis. ✓ Curiosity: Stay curious and open-minded. ✓ Creativity: Have fun while solving problems. 𝐖𝐡𝐲: ✓ Collaboration: Learn from others’ experiences and work together. ✓ Culture Literacy: Understand different perspectives and adapt. ✓ Character: Uphold integrity and ethical values. Jim Keyes encapsulates these principles in his recent book, 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎. You can also learn more from Episode 571 of Ryan Hawk's Learning Leader podcast, which I highly recommend. As for my own perspective, I believe that curiosity, adaptability, resilience, and a growth mindset are crucial drivers of success. Embracing change, learning continuously, and maintaining a positive attitude contribute significantly to achieving our goals. 💡What about you? What drives your success?
