Endometriosis often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due in part to the various forms the condition can take, including symptoms that mimic those of other medical conditions. It can take years to receive a diagnosis, which typically occurs through an invasive surgery called a laparoscopy. Our research involves developing an early detection method that is more accessible for patients and less invasive. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g6TwPjWD

💉Prophylactic (perioperative) #antibiotics are rarely needed, however, when we decide to use them we should use them right. Historically beta-lactams were administered 30–60 minutes before the first incision in dogs, then every 90 minutes until the end of surgery. Dr. Ludovic Pelligand from RVC wanted more evidence and conducted a study on the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of each most commonly used beta-lactams for surgical prophylaxis which helps us choose a more accurate time of dosing for each antibiotic based on expected contamination. Venus Medtech (SEHK: 2500) achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of the first tricuspid valve replacement surgery in the Asia-Pacific region using its innovative Cardiovalve system. This marks Cardiovalve's inaugural entry into the Asia-Pacific region following its successful clinical applications across Europe, North America, and other regions, symbolizing a notable advancement in Venus Medtech's global influence. The surgery was a collaborative effort between Professor Kent So's team at Prince of Wales Hospital, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a multidisciplinary team. Immediate postoperative outcomes were favorable, and the patient is currently recuperating well, with plans for discharge in the near future. This milestone also represents the first humanitarian patient treated with Cardiovalve in the Asia-Pacific region, underscoring the unique clinical advantages offered by this product. #QMPortfolio #QMHealthcare #VenusMedtech #Cardiovalve #TricuspidValveReplacement #MedicalInnovation

⚕️ Follow us for the Session Series Part 3 of the Scientific Program @ The National Symposium of Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery! ⚕️ Session III – GERD, hiatal hernia and bariatric surgery! Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is frequently associated with obesity. Up to half of the obese patients who are going to have bariatric surgery have GERD and hiatal hernia. Postoperative control of GERD is done through the appropriate choice of the type of bariatric surgery and through surgical techniques performed simultaneously, representing an extremely important weapon in preventing the occurrence of evolutive complications with negative potential on the quality of life. As a result, the session "GERD, Hiatal Hernia and bariatric surgery" include current and future topics about hiatal hernia repair during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, postoperative intrathoracic gastric migration and the use of LRYGBP in patients with GERD. Great to see the first experience in Latin America of the Combat PRS+ recirculation system with CO2 agitation getting some attention at the 4th Latin American Congress on Peritoneal Neoplasms in Frutillar, Chile last week. “The combination of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is the treatment of choice for selected patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis. “Although CRS techniques are standardized, HIPEC presents variability in chemotherapy agents, doses, temperature, duration, and administration methods, which limits its optimization. “In recent years, a new technique has been introduced, which is safe and efficient for performing HIPEC using the Peritoneal Recirculation System with CO2 agitation (COMBAT PRS+A®), opening new possibilities in the management of peritoneal carcinomatosis.” More tomorrow! #medicalinnovation #LatinAmerica #peritonealcancer #HIPEC #CombatPRS+ #CombatMedical
