Michael Smith, Head of Starry at PepsiCo, shared an insight on the launch challenge faced by big companies. For startups the key challenge is distribution, but they tend to build distribution and awareness at the same pace. Big businesses have "rich people problems": • They can secure near-universal distribution instantly • But they can't guarantee matching awareness • Meanwhile, retailers expect immediate performance 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼? Option 1: Throw a huge media budget at it. But that level of investment is reserved for only the biggest strategic bets. Option 2: Take a page from the startup playbook and focus distribution. As Dave Allan (founder, What If?) says, "Most big companies think their advantage is taking bigger swings, but they also have the ability to take more smaller swings." 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆?
