Today, as I’ve listened the podcast on trust at work. One of the elements mentioned was PRIDE and it really resonates with me, so there’s no better time to refer to it: Firstly, I’m proud to be a part of Deloitte Consulting practice - all our CE Consulting professionals have embraced a pioneering DVC program as a recognition platform. Exciting news a couple of weeks back to learn that Julene Marr and I were recipients of one of four, 2023 Deloitte Global Eminence awards. Julene and I entered the competition with our 'Integration Centre of Enablement in Practice' asset. When facing integration challenges, it can be tempting to introduce new technology or people to keep moving the organisation forward. A Centre of Enablement focuses on providing organisations with the frameworks to generate maximum value out of technology. Our assets focused on; - Organising teams to scale with organisation demand - Upskilling and empowering teams to work autonomously - Creating delivery guardrails to manage quality - Creating reusable assets and managing quality delivery - Structure and standards for documentation Really exciting to be recognised internationally for the work that Julene and I have been involved in up against a large amount of impressive technical assets.

Leading with Purpose Purpose is one of the most valuable soft and corporate skills anyone can possess. Aligning your personal purpose with your organization's purpose yields significant benefits. When you transform your dreams into purpose, it leads to impactful results in both your personal and professional life. For instance, I was able to complete 13 EY bronze badges and 4 silver badges because I had a purpose: to achieve the EY Tech MBA. Being purposeful was key to my success in this endeavor. Over the past seven months, I've been honoured with seven different recognitions, each reflecting the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that I bring to my role in resource management. From the very first day, I was determined to make a meaningful impact. Each recognition symbolizes not just individual achievements, but also the collaborative efforts and unwavering support of my incredible team. In my first month, adapting to a fast-paced environment and contributing to key projects set the foundation for the months to follow. As a people person, empathy plays a crucial role in my daily interactions. Recognitions for exceptional teamwork and leadership potential highlight the importance of understanding and supporting my colleagues. It's through empathy that we build strong relationships, foster collaboration, and drive collective success. Innovation and continuous improvement have been guiding principles throughout my journey. In honor of this award, she provides insight into her career journey and shares why this recognition is a culmination of her team’s hard work. What would you say has been the biggest factor in your success? Grace: The biggest factor has been the support I have received from colleagues. Although most data-centered roles require substantial independent technical problem-solving, collaboration has been key for fostering continued engagement, success and personal growth. Our Data & Analytics team is incredibly supportive, forming a global community where different perspectives and skill sets converge to reach actionable solutions. A large part of my success is directly attributable to what I have learned from my colleagues. What do you enjoy most about the consulting industry? Grace: I value how unique each engagement is and the cross-industry exposure working in consulting provides. Our clients span a wide range of sectors and constantly present us with new problems to solve, each having its own complex technical challenges requiring different advanced analytic techniques and foundational knowledge. It is the diversity of the work that keeps me engaged, excited to continuously learn and motivated to support our clients with innovative solutions. What does this recognition mean to you? Grace: The nomination alone is a huge honor, and I am grateful to be recognized by, and alongside, such accomplished individuals. It is a testament to my leaders and colleagues at FTI Consulting who have provided invaluable mentorship, invested in my professional growth and trusted me with opportunities that pushed me out of my comfort zone. What is your proudest achievement? Grace: I graduated from college with a B.A. in psychology and had limited exposure to the technical skills that are critical for working in this area. Ultimately, growing into a position where my team members would reach out to me for technical assistance and advice was a significant moment for me. Just returning back from Global Senior Manager Milestone training at Deloitte University - energized, humbled and impressed. I met amazing people from different EMEA countries, shared insights, and had some fun. Big "Thank you" goes to all my colleagues and our great facilitators Jenefer Morgan CA(SA) MBA and Jürgen Lademann for their insights, openess and mainly very honest Real Talk session. And special thanks goes to Martin Laws for a great and useful feedback on my unique value proposition. My key takeaways/thoughts to be reminded later on: 1. Perfect is enemy of good. 2. It is important to know what makes you stand out. 3. Do not start with a roadmap if you do not have a goal/objective in your mind. 4. Fishing for projects at the beginning of relationship is not helpful for anyone. 5. If you want to start start something new, you need to stop doing something else.
