Friday Funny. As a recruiter I encounter the usual array of job titles: Manager, Director, Specialist… But every now and then, something truly unique pops up that not only catches our eye but also brings a smile to my face, or a rolling of my eyes 😄 I'm talking about those creative, maybe even a bit quirky, job titles that make you do a double-take. Like "Chief Happiness Officer" or "Wizard of Light Bulb Moments" – titles that remind us that the workplace can also be a place for creativity and fun. After over 15 years of doing what I do, I've seen some incredible 'interpretations' and 'attempts' at humour on a resume. Some of my favourites: - Official Recipient Of Awkward Morning Greetings (Security Guy) - Mail Escort (Mail delivery) - Manager of Idea Stalling (Corporate Services Manager) - Chief Sandwich Artist (Subway) - Official waster of time - this particular candidate was on benefits and highlighted they were only applying as it was a jobseeker criteria to obtain said benefits 😠 📢 I’d love to hear from you! What's the funniest or most unique job title you've ever come across in the professional world? Share your favourites in the comments below, and let's add a little laughter to our day! #FunAtWork #JobTitles #Networking #WorkplaceCulture

Our Homans Associate Excellence Shoutout this week goes to Angela Bastien! Nomination: “Angie is amazing! She is willing to help wherever and whenever needed. Being a recruiter, the job is not always happening during standard business hours. Many candidates need to be accommodated after hours, when they are not working, for phone interviews. Angie is always willing to meet their needs so that in turn it meets the company's needs to get the positions filled with the most qualified candidates.” Fun facts about Angela Bastien: Tell us about your background before Homans or growth within the organization: I began my career in recruiting in 2005 at a collection agency, where I initially served as a Client Service Representative. Over the course of 15 years, I advanced to the position of Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist on the HR team and served as the backup to my HR Manager. To further my career, I joined Leddy Group as a Staffing Manager. Although I was not actively seeking new opportunities, I was approached by Homans. Following my initial interview with Julie and Tim, I was confident that this was the ideal organization for me. Place you'd like to visit that you haven't been to? I have always wanted to go to Ireland. What's your favorite season? Fall! The leaves are turning, the weather is beautiful, and the holidays are right around the corner. What’s your favorite Holiday and why? I love Halloween and all things spooky! Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them! Yes, I have a 10-year-old Rex bunny named Lola. She is our guard bunny, and she does her job well. How would you describe yourself in three words? I would describe myself as honest, hardworking, and caring. What is your favorite quote? One of my favorite quotes is "Believe you can and you're halfway there".

In my conversation with Igor Rant, we explore strategies to identify the best workplaces and spot red flags in job offers. Here are 3 red flags I have detected: 1️⃣ A lot of employees working under stress after 18:00 ⏰ 2️⃣ They call the company "Family" 👩❤️👩👩❤️👩 3️⃣ Only fruit-basket and drinks as Benefits. 🍇 Do you know more red flags? Let me know in the comments 👇👇 #careeradvice #jobseeking #jobsearch #culture #companyculture #career

As a person, you are allowed to have an identity outside of your job. When we meet someone new for the first time, we often ask "What do you do for work?" as the first question. But we have to remember we are so much more than our job titles. I am often referred to as "Katie-The Disney Recruiter" but I have so many more interests and skills including baking, reading, biking, and traveling (shout out to a pic from travels to Boston last weekend). So next time you meet someone new, inside or outside of work, try asking other questions rather than those job related, like "What are your interests?" "Have you seen any good movies lately?" etc. You may just learn about the "real person" We are all way more than just our jobs and often need the reminder to remember that 😊 #disneyrecruiter #worklifebalance #disneycastlife

At Grandly, I handle everything with empathy, even when it comes to letting someone go. Here's what I do when I have to let someone leave our team: 1. Thank them for their contribution I believe that when someone joins our company, they trust us. So, when it's time for them to leave, I make sure to thank them for their time and effort in helping build our company. 2. Give clear feedback We provide constructive feedback to every employee who's leaving. I point out their strengths that can help them in future jobs, and I explain the reasons why we’re parting ways. 3. Offer a one-month notice I think it’s important to give employees some time to find their next job. That's why we provide a one-month notice period. At the end of the day, employees are people, and treating them with kindness and empathy makes a big difference. How do you handle the tough decision of letting someone go from your team?

It always puts me in a better mood.” What’s your role at the company, and what does a typical day look like for you? “As a CSR, no two days are the same. Every day brings unique challenges, and I focus on helping my customers get the parts they need quickly and efficiently.” What do you enjoy most about working here? “Everyone is a team player and will go out of their way to help you. We all stand together and support each other. It’s a very positive atmosphere.” What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work? “One of my favorite things is going to outdoor concerts in the summer. Nothing better than going with friends and listening to the music and making great memories!” #EmployeeSpotlight #MeetTheTeam #CompanyCulture #CustomerService #TeamPlayer

I walked into the Reception area for my interview and the very first words that came out of the mouth of the Receptionist to me was ' Are you sure you want to work here'? Talk about 'WARNING SIGNS, right!!!! This was my experience many years ago during my job hunting days. I should have taken the Receptionist more seriously. But, I was desperate. Besides, I thought she was just a PROBLEM Employee with issues. Well, I did get the job. I worked there for 4 months, and then I QUIT!!! WHY? Because I was hired by a PROBLEM Company with PROBLEM Management, who created a PROBLEM Culture. My desperation for a Job caused me to IGNORE the WARNING SIGNS of a PROBLEM Company. Candidates, do your due diligence when it comes to your next Company. Just as you may NOT always be the RIGHT Candidate for some Companies, some Companies may NOT be RIGHT for you. Far too many Companies are willing to PAY you while wanting to ENSLAVE you. #charactercreatescompanyculture #shawnnaidu #allthingsarepossiblegroup #leadershipspeaker
