Wojciech Sadowski’s Post

We started Queritius four years ago. Contrary to appearance, we have not slid in on a shrimp sandwich. In fact, we have failed quite often. We did not make it to Chambers & Partners, in the first year. Nor in the second. We did not manage to secure third party funding for a large case we really counted on. We lost two major cases which we candidly believe should have been decided in favor of our clients. We parted ways with a few great colleagues and excellent lawyers. We made some embarrassing mistakes. To give one example, when stepping down from a case in a somewhat tense circumstances, I personally sent our farewell e-mail addressed to “Dear Members of the Arbitral Tribunal, Dead Colleagues…”, without noting the typo 🤦♂️ But failures are a part and parcel of any human endeavor. As a great movie quote puts it, “it is not about how hard you can hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That is how winning is done”. And so, we keep moving forward. Enriched with experience, improved from our mistakes, resilient, and still passionate about what we do.

What a candid post, so much different from all self-promotion content on LI.

A refreshing post in the world of LinkedIn's self-praising culture. I grew up in a culture where admitting failure was a sign of weakness and easily led to humiliation. Thank you for reinforcing that the path to professional excellence is through mistakes. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Such refreshing straight talk in a legal post. Most are about the past, this one is about the road to the future and greater success. It's the road Rocky Balboa, Michael Jordon and Marcus Aurelius also took. Stick with it Wojciech Sadowski and Queritius. Per aspera ad astra!

Thank you for sharing also your failures, which are an inevitable part of every endeavour, on a platform where we are used to talk about our successes, it's an act of courage to be so authentic and vulnerable. Good luck !

Well said, dear friend! Very brave of you to publicly acknowledge these lessons and very wise to decide how to learn from them.
