The Middle East is paving the way for global AI leadership with bold investments and visionary projects.

Reflecting on an incredible journey with the global leaders and entrepreneurs last week, at Harvard Business School’s OPM - 64 in Dubai! Presenting my top keynote, "Leading from the Future" was more than just delivering a masterclass; it was a deeply enriching experience that reminded me of my own early days in university and my life’s journey.   The vibe in the room was cheerful, positive, engaging, and electrifying, and being acknowledged by these experienced entrepreneurs who were fully participative was such a humbling experience. Many resonated with the forward-thinking mindset we explored—transitioning their organizations to tech-cos and AI-cos to stay ahead of the curve.   To hear that my style of delivery/approach felt uniquely impactful, even more current and valuable than many of their HBS class lectures, truly affirmed my passion for this work and evolution and hard work as a futurist.   We delved into the critical role of AI, data, and future-focused talent as the appreciating assets that will shape tomorrow’s landscape. We all agreed that the future is dependent on "trust, ethics, and values". We connected the dots between our businesses, exponential technologies, and importantly, the role we play as human beings to shape a beautiful and positive future.   Thank you, Harvard Business School and the exceptional OPM participants, for the privilege to journey through the future with you. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending this symposium hosted by the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management which brought together key policy experts, business executives, and thought leaders to address how Canada can regain a leadership position in AI and also unlock productivity potential in its economy. Thank you to Ivey, the LNC, the host, Romel Mostafa and all the speakers for an outstanding session! Among the valuable takeaways for the day were the perspectives shared by Sharon Hodgson, Dean of Ivey Business School, where she emphasized how Ivey students acquire a full range of leadership skills including creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and resilience, the critical foundation of a growth mindset. We also heard Stephen Poloz’s views around the implications of this Fourth Industrial Revolution and what lessons we could build on from prior disruptions, including the substantial opportunities for growth, innovation, and societal improvement through a strategic embrace of technology.  An interesting challenge raised by yesterday's speakers was how to build the “demand” side for AI in Canada and overcome our historically pattern of lagging and technology adoption. Thinking about the AI “Demand” side, I came away with these key questions more business leader should be asking themselves: -How can I accelerate skill development within my entire organization to leverage AI more effectively? How do I ensure no one is left behind? -Who can I collaborate or partner with to stay ahead in this space? Where else can I look to unlock innovation? -How often am I re-evaluating my organization’s AI roadmap? -How can I take my deployment of AI beyond the basic and obvious and start to look at the “big hairy problems” of my business? As a founder of a boutique consulting business, the journey can feel lonely at times. That's why attending The Consultancy Growth Network Annual Summit recently was such a game-changer for me. I was able to connect with other Founders who just *get it*. The shared experiences, the war stories, the wins and losses... it was incredibly validating and energizing. But beyond the amazing networking, there were two key takeaways that I know will have a huge impact on how I build my consultancy moving forward. First, the power of embracing AI. The case studies we explored demonstrated that AI can become a trusted partner in driving smarter decisions, enhancing client delivery, and improving our operational efficiency. I left the summit determined to explore how we can continue to weave AI seamlessly into our workflows, freeing up my team to focus on the high-value, high-impact work.
