THANK YOU. The response to our recent coverage about the Corps food pantry has been tremendous. We are so grateful for your generosity and we are excited to share that the pantry is OVERFLOWING! While we work to bring in more shelving and inventory the pantry, please hold off on sending any additional food donations. If you are still moved to support the pantry, you can do so with a monetary donation to the Commandant’s Priorities Fund (detailed instructions below). As we identify the needs of the pantry moving forward, we will use those earmarked donations to purchase needed items. How to make a monetary gift to the pantry: 1. Visit this link: https://lnkd.in/gxhdQhey 2. The Commandant’s Priorities Annual Fund will self-populate in the “Fund” field 3. Choose your gift frequency and gift amount 4. Click “Add this gift to your cart” 5. Complete the “My Information” section and select "yes" to "Would you like to provide additional comments or special instructions about your gift" under the donor address 6. In the comments field, type "Corps Pantry" 7. Select “Give Now” If you need assistance or would like further information, please reach out to vtcc@vt.edu

End disinformation & misinformation in and about WNC.
If you hear on social media or any other source that resources aren’t in WNC and more aren’t coming from federal, state and local governments as well as nonprofits, churches and other organizations, that is completely FALSE! The problem now is getting the resources needed to the places that need it and to the people who need it on a timely basis. That’s a huge challenge despite so many working 24/7. This is supply chain management on steroids. In the first several days after this disaster I advocated for a military response as civilian resources were overwhelmed. Neighbors are helping neighbors. Churches are showing the love of God by helping their communities. Nonprofits from across the country are here helping. Ordinary people are doing extraordinary things. But it still isn’t enough. We are personally fixing a NCDOT road because they can’t get to every road and bridge immediately. Two major interstates from Tennessee will be closed until 2025. Shout out to everyone who is supporting us because we know people across America and the nation are donating, volunteering, praying and doing so much. It’s a great reminder that we are in this together. We know you’ve got our backs. ❤️🙏🏼

The TowerCares Foundation has granted over $3 million to help military families, Veterans, and children in need. Four special $25,000 donations to local TowerCares Community Heroes charity partners, (Hero Dogs, Inc., Casey Cares Foundation, Hospice of the Chesapeake, and CAMP ATTAWAY INC), along with the credit union's innovative Pennies for Change program, helped push the Foundation over the $3 million mark in just under a decade. https://lnkd.in/e3VKjMdx #towercares #herodogs #caseycares #hospiceofthechesapeake #campattaway

The top comment I hear from our Beyond The Brotherhood fellows as they onboard is "I am so glad there is a screening process". Why would someone want to be screened before receiving benefits from a 501c3? Because everyone raises money with the Navy SEAL name but that is not where the money usually goes. Ask around - it's true. At BTB, we transition ONLY screened and selected Navy SEALs of character. That's it. There is an administrative load, especially in our first year when we had to set up the 501c3 - our program percentage was 71%, that means that 71 cents of every donation dollar went to the cause. (In the non-profit world, 67% is considered really good). This year, we are at 89%. As we come into the giving season, hit me up if you want to know how we are spending your donations. We squeeze every bit of benefit out of every dollar and it goes where you think it does - to build the next chapter in the lives of our nation's greatest warriors.

Earlier this month, the #IRS released updates, including guidance on energy-efficient home improvement credits, new corporate bond segment rates, and tax benefits for military personnel. Worth reading this admirable statement of purpose and plan for realizing it.
Announcing the launch of Reinforcements Inc, a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Maryland, built to support military families. We provide eligible US military families with the technical guidance and financial support needed to maintain the value of their homes through subsidized repair, replacement and renovation services. We support families who have paid a high price while serving the citizens of this country—families whose head-of-household died in the line of duty or suffered a service-related permanent disability. When a family pursues our services, we meet with them to confirm their eligibility, conduct a home inspection to identify needed repairs, provide a schedule for making the repairs, and find licensed, third-party contractors from our Provider Network to complete the repairs. These services are at no cost to the families. Once the house is restored and in good repair, we stay connected with the family as a support for future needs. The work of supporting each family in this way will likely extend over several years, for as long as they remain eligible. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/e77q2CBz. Consider making a donation.
