Have you ever opened a box of NatureSweet tomatoes and noticed a smiling face inside? This Texas company highlights its workers—many from Mexico—by sharing their stories on product packaging. It’s a refreshing way to celebrate employees beyond traditional recognition programs. What stands out most is their investment in educational benefits, encouraging employees to pursue higher education. As a recruiter in Life Sciences, I’ve seen how benefits like these create a supportive environment that fosters employee satisfaction and retention. It also attracts top talent and builds loyalty, even in industries reliant on manual labor. In a world where the nature of work is evolving, companies like NatureSweet demonstrate how valuing employees translates into success. What other innovative ways have you seen organizations invest in their people? ________________________ Hi, I'm Steve Swan 👋 CEO and Principal of The Swan Group, an Executive Search Firm carving a niche in the Pharma/Biotech industries with a keen focus on IT. Proactive vs Reactive recruiting: The differences are mostly intuitive, ditto the results and recommendations. For best results, recruit proactively. Even if you're a small company with only occasional roles to fill, the article frames a mindset and set of priorities that are well worth the 2-3-minute read. Two more points. First, if you don't have a "talent" team, you'll likely need to do much of this yourself. Take it in pieces; learn as you go; network with colleagues and recruiters. Second, develop a relationship with your recruiter. Be a good client. That means staying informed and keeping your recruiter informed. You don't need monthly conference calls, but the occasional base touching works there, as it does with all partners. And work with recruiters who truly specialize in your industry/vertical. https://lnkd.in/e3d_jc3U #recruiting #recruiter #talentmanager #talentprofessional #hiringmanager #proactiverecruiting #proactivity #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #brakkesearch #brakkeconsulting

Gearing up for budgets means gearing up for hiring. Top Echelon published a widespread survey earlier this year, reflecting global hiring and recruiting trends across many industries. Two points to make here. First, regarding challenges with CANDIDATES, 31% said there's a shortage of talent, while 26% said candidates have unrealistic expectations. It's tough going! Second, regarding challenges related to CLIENTS/HIRING MANAGERS, 40% said the process is convoluted or attenuated, while 23% said employers are insufficiently responsive to them. So we see an intense talent marketplace, still favoring the candidates. They get intractable, unreachable. They may feel harassed. Worse, employers make things worse FOR THEMSELVES with difficult applications processes and poor candidate relations. Don't let this happen to you! A good recruiter can help! We can particularly expedite and facilitate the process, personalizing what may otherwise be relegated to at ATS. And we know the talent marketplace and can extend networks quickly and effectively, identifying the top candidates and often breaking through the clutter and noise. At Brakke Consulting/Brakke Search, we'd be happy to help. Pro tip: Don't wait. Even if you await a new budget, we can start during 4Q so that your new hire is at the helm when the new year begins. #recruitingchallenges #hiringchallenges #hiringmanager #talentprofessional #candidateghosting #talentshortages #ATS #hiringprocess #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine #brakkesearch #brakkeconsulting #recruiter

IS THERE A JOB YOU JUST WOULDN’T DO? Toilet cleaner? Costume character (such as Santa’s little helper)? Sewer flusher? a lollipop person?? Is there a profession you wouldn’t stoop to – or, if you are in #HR or #careers, a job - that you wouldn’t recommend? At Upturn Enterprise we often connect people with meaningful employment opportunities, helping to fill skills gaps for employers. We believe that the image of a profession isn’t everything. The thing about all the roles we have just mentioned are that they can be rewarding, they train transferable skills, bring you job satisfaction and help society tick. We are about to embark on a new #recruitment campaign for one of these professions – but in the meantime, be honest, WHAT JOB WOULD YOU NEVER DO?

Ever wondered if the internet has a sense of humor? Well, according to one wild review, we at elvah apparently interviewed...a gardener. Yep, for our fully remote office in London — a city where we don’t even have any employees. Now, I’m all for cultivating new ideas, but this one really takes the (garden) cake. Imagine the questions: “How do you handle workplace weeds?” “What's your experience with cross-departmental watering?” But let’s get serious for a second (or as serious as I get). Are we really trusting reviews like this? Are people genuinely buying into the idea that we’re booking interviews for imaginary positions? Or is our brand making waves that some just can’t handle? Glassdoor, could you maybe help weed out these little fictions? Let’s keep the laughs coming, folks, but leave the gardening to the actual gardens.

What's a nice way to ease the transition for a Replacement Hire? I often think of this as "passing the baton." Let’s say that an experienced person, (someone that’s been in the position for 15 -20 years), gives notice that they’re leaving. (This happens a lot with Baby Boomer retirements which then generate Replacement Hires.) In that scenario, it’s ideal if the new hire can work concurrently with the incumbent for at least a couple of weeks before leaving. That way he can pass institutional knowledge over to her, so that the transition will be smoother once she takes over the role. #hiring #chemicalmanufacturing #packaging #plastics #buildingmaterials
