In John Hattie's Visible Learning, seeking and providing feedback in classroom discussions is pivotal for enhancing student learning. Students actively engage in seeking feedback by asking questions, seeking clarification, and reflecting on their understanding during discussions. Teachers play a crucial role in providing timely and specific feedback to students, guiding their thinking processes and fostering deeper comprehension and metacognitive skills. The effect size of this influence is 0.82 (0.4 is one year of growth). #CESA3 #empoweringeducators #lead

At Lead by Learning, we pay exquisite attention to the #SEL skill of self-awareness and its role in driving self-improvement for our adult learners through our core practices of Public Learning and Supportive Challenge! We invite you to pause for a Friday Meta-Moment and reflect how you plan to center self-awareness in your adult learning spaces this school year: ♥️ What conditions do your learners need in place to feel safe and brave building each other’s self-awareness? ♥️ Where have you seen self-awareness built during collaboration in the past, what happened? What led to that success that you can lean on this school year? ♥️ How will your students, especially those furthest from opportunity, benefit from your team building self-awareness of how patterns, beliefs, and implicit bias are impacting their practice? Learn more in our playbook! https://hubs.ly/Q02HHysb0 #adultlearning #collaboration #selfawareness #adultSEL #collaborativeinquiry #metamoment #equity

"When one teaches, two learn." — Robert Heinlein In every teaching moment, we all learn. So, here is our challenge to you today. Pick one or both. 1. SHARE WITH A COLLEAGUE. This can be a success you experienced, a new learning, or even a resource you are excited about. 2. CHALLENGE STUDENTS TO SHARE THEIR THINKING. Invite students to share their learning or ideas with someone else. This can be a partner or a larger group. Celebrate their courage. And yours! Share the journey of learning with us in the comments! #LearningTogether #LearningOpportunity #TransformativeEducation

🌟 Teacher Tip: Building a Positive Classroom Culture Through Reinforcement! 🌟 Looking for ways to create a supportive, encouraging classroom environment? Positive reinforcement is key! Recognizing students' efforts—big or small—helps build confidence and motivates them to keep improving. 💡 Try These Ideas: Be Specific with Praise: Recognize particular actions (e.g., “Great job working together as a team!”) rather than general praise. Use a Reward System: Set up a points chart or small rewards for consistent positive behaviors and effort. Celebrate Growth: Acknowledge hard work and progress, not just end results, to show that growth is just as important! When students feel valued, they’re more likely to engage, improve, and enjoy their learning. Try these strategies and watch the positive energy grow in your classroom! #TeacherTips #PositiveReinforcement #ClassroomCulture #TeachingInspiration

Acknowledging that you don’t understand something is not a weakness— it’s the starting point of true learning and growth. As educators, we often emphasize to our students the value of asking questions and embracing uncertainty. But how often do we, as professionals, follow this rule in our own learning journey? Admitting you don’t understand opens the door to exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Whether in the classroom, workplace, or personal life. Be brave enough to say, “I don’t know, but I’ll learn."

In the rush to professional development, teachers often turn to various platforms, seeking guidance from countless coaches and mentors. However, the most profound coach and mentor lies within each of us. Our experiences in the classroom shape our understanding and expertise, allowing us to teach and train others effectively. We learn from our challenges and successes, continuously evolving as educators. By sharing our unique insights and practical knowledge, we enrich our professional community. Embracing our role as both learners and teachers, we foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and excellence, ultimately benefiting our students and ourselves. #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeacherTraining #EducationalGrowth #TeachingExcellence

Student-Led instruction takes place daily in room B-15. These shining Stars solved a challenging error analysis problem on decimals a couple of weeks ago. Students were placed in teams where they each had a specific role and responsibility. When they finished, I took a seat and learned from them. My passion for effective student-centered learning grows daily! Proud of these shining Stars! I love our district’s instructional model where we focus on effective teaming and collaboration in each classroom. #5thgrade #teaming #collaboration #instructionalmodel

Empowering teachers starts with trust. I remember a time when I let a teacher completely redesign a program. It wasn’t perfect at first, but the sense of ownership they gained led to real innovation and incredible growth for their students. What have you found to be most challenging about empowering teachers? How do you build trust within your team? #TeacherEmpowerment #TrustInLeadership #CultureOfExcellence
