When I commit to something, I commit fully. Samsung asked me to be an MC at their event, and I said yes and did a lot of preparation to make sure I was a well prepared MC, as I commonly find at events. I spend time with the organizers to understand the audience, their expectations, what they want to take from the event, what are the key messages of the organizer, what's the physical and audio-visual setup, who will be there from the media and the tech partner, and the company partners, the profiles of the other speakers, their personal and professional backgrounds, what they will talk about. Keep in mind that I'm a busy business advisor. I'm squeezing in this preparation along my busy schedule, So I find pockets of preparation. A book I read on Emceeing said that there is a ten-time preparation part of the event duration. Overall, it was fun, and I would do it again on a case-by-case, depending on my day-to-day workload.

I have often worked on projects — until very recently — where we come up with the event concept first, and the customer is an afterthought. Even when we consider the customer, it’s mostly #exhibitors and #sponsors. There is very little attention given to the end customers. However, I started noticing a pattern among some of the most impactful events — especially #tradefairs and #conferences — which relentlessly focus on customers. By customers, I mean the end customers of the event: visitors and buyers. So, it’s great to learn about Amazon's "working backwards" framework (picture added). This is another cross-industry application of an idea that would greatly benefit the business events industry. As it’s popularly said, focus on things that don’t change. Evening speeches bring a different energy. Personally, I relish the anticipation that builds throughout the event, leading up to that pivotal moment. After extensive preparation, both online and in-person meetings, fine-tuning speeches and presentations to ensure client ease, I always make it a point to double-check the venue, liaise with technicians for audio, video, and lighting—calming any pre-show jitters within the team. I don´t mind coming at midday to check and evening to double check as this attention to detail is crucial. Corporate evening events hold a unique atmosphere: - Attendees have put in a full day's work. - Corporate strategies and objectives have been set. - Dinners have been enjoyed. - Recognition has been given for outstanding sales performance and corporate contributions. It's in these moments that I thrive, reading the room's energy and guiding everyone on a collective #journey. There's a #magic when the invisible barrier between speaker and #audience dissipates, and we all become part of something bigger, something special. The crescendo of #applause, everyone on their feet, marks the culmination of shared #experiences. Group photos and videos capture the essence of the evening.
