This is what I love about my work: sitting across daring founders who decided to make a dent in the universe, their genius is palpable. They have survived and achieved so much. All the stories of remarkable ideas turning into action and dealing with challenges along, and I have the honour to listen to all of that and translate them into a beautiful pitch deck! #pitchdeck #salespresentation

Will Ahmed, Founder/CEO of WHOOP launched his company in 2012 and had version 1.0 out in 2015. As founders, we often rush to push out a product and validate demand. While everyone’s timeline is different, my conversation with Will highlighted 3 important points: 1) Never settle with a founding team that isn’t willing to spend long hours and expect failure at the first few iterations. 2) Building a sticky product requires you to be genuinely interested in the well-being of your customers. 3) ARR is a great metric, but seeing strangers use your product is an even better one.

We tried something new last week in San Francisco. Usually, Bulletpitch dinners are all about connecting founders with investors. But this time, with our co-host InnoCrew, we created a space exclusively for founders. That's right—just founders in the room (even our sponsors Try Crew and Crescent were founders). So, what happened? Candor: Founders opened up more about their journeys. Empathy: Shared experiences brought the group together. Energy: There’s something powerful about gathering like-minded thinkers. At Bulletpitch, we take pride in being a bridge between founders and investors, but we also know the magic that happens when founders connect with each other. Next week, we’ll announce another major event where we plan to do just that. However, this week we’re brining investors back into the mix and gearing up to connect founders, GPs, LPs, and more at our LA penthouse event on Thursday. (Sign-up link below!)

Problem/Solution Fit (not Product/Market Fit) is the first significant milestone of a startup. Getting to product/market fit (the inflection point in the hockey stick curve) takes roughly two years, and 80% of products never find it. At this rate, not counting downtime between ideas, finding a good idea could take up to 10 years! A better first milestone is aiming for Problem/Solution Fit. Problem/Solution fit takes roughly three months to achieve and flips the failure rate by prioritizing what’s riskiest first. In tomorrow’s LEAN 1-2-3 newsletter, I’ll share why and outline some actionable tactics for charting a course for Problem/Solution Fit. Subscribe below 👇
