I'm more than halfway done with my summer internship experience at IBM! For all those in the midst of their internships or looking to get one in the near future, here are the top things I've learned about corporate internships: ☕ 1. Coffee Chats: One of the main things you'll continue to hear during your internship is how important it is to network and schedule "coffee chats" with other employees within the company. However, coffee chats are not just for you to learn about someone else's role and how they might help you, but there is an opportunity for you to also give back even as an intern. Ask the employee about their specific project and offer to provide some insights. The Gen-Z perspective is valuable, don't take it for granted. 🎊 2. Having Fun in the Office: A summer internship is meant to be a professional and engaging learning experience, but that does not mean it can't be fun! Just last week Megan Hwang and I hosted a happy hour trivia at IBM's LGBTQ+ pride month celebration. This was probably one of my favorite "networking" experiences and it had nothing to do with our day jobs. Look for opportunities to loosen up and get to know people outside of just their professional roles! 🏃♀️ 3. Proactivity: As a student, we are accustomed to sitting in the passenger seat and waiting for our professor to assign us readings, homework, quizzes, etc. Most internships are not the same and rely largely on your own proactivity! Some days you may find yourself with not much to do, this is where you begin to look for tasks and opportunities. This may include scheduling and prepping for coffee chats, completing additional company trainings, industry market research, or reaching out to your manager to see where you could assist. Don't be afraid to ask for more but don't stretch yourself too thin. #internship #corporatelife #students #tips

The impact of inclusive employment can be hard to truly articulate. I think it's about giving a voice and value to everyone, about people having the environment and time for them to shine. Case studies and examples help to bring these experiences to life. This example from Mollie's | B Corp™ shows something we often don't touch on; how being an inclusive employer affects so much more than just a business or an individual and how it can change so many people's lives. Well done Rebecca Lester (Assoc CIPD) and Mollie's | B Corp™ 🙌🏻
Inclusive hiring creates a powerful ripple effect, positively impacting individuals, teams, businesses, families and society. We recently received a deeply touching email from the parent of someone we employed in a carved role following the completion of a supported internship. It truly brought tears to my eyes! 💗 The parent graciously gave us full permission to share their message, urging us to spread it far and wide to inspire others to make their recruitment processes more inclusive and accessible for everyone. #Inclusion #SEND #JobCarving #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #ItsaMolliesThing #Inclusive #HospitalityCareers Mollie's | B Corp™ Trudi Parr Nya Levy SIXTEEN CO-OPERATIVE LTD Rob Parry

Internships play a crucial role in helping individuals with intellectual disabilities find meaningful employment and integrate into the workforce. These opportunities provide not just hands-on experience, but also the chance to develop essential skills, build confidence, and showcase their abilities in a real-world setting. For many people with intellectual disabilities, internships are the stepping stones to long-term employment. Through these programs, they discover jobs that align with their strengths and passions, allowing them to thrive in the workplace. In fact, research shows that individuals who participate in internships are three times more likely to secure employment than those who don't. By offering internship opportunities, we can create pathways to success for people with intellectual disabilities, helping them find their place in the job market and contribute to society in meaningful ways. Let's continue to support and expand these programs to ensure everyone has the chance to shine. 🌠 #DAWproject #DiversityAtWork #DAW #Inclusion #SkillsforDisabled #CognitiveDisability

#TBT Back in 2016, my son Nick was interning at my company, rocking the logo shirt like a pro! I believe it's crucial to give young folks a peek into the working world and let them contribute to society—it sets them up for success down the road. What's your take on your first job experience? When did you start working, and do you think it's had an impact on who you are today? Tell me in the comments below, I'd love to hear your thoughts! . #ThrowbackThursday #InternshipInsights #FutureOfWork #YoungProfessionals #CareerDevelopment #CompanyCulture #ProfessionalGrowth #YouthEmpowerment #SkillsBuilding #WorkplaceExperience #ContributingToSociety #NextGenLeaders #Futuresuccess #RobBasso

Guess what? Digital isn't just for men anymore! Last year, we proudly reached a major milestone at Organic: our team achieved an equal split of 50% men and women! 🙌 We've worked tirelessly to achieve this balance through inclusive policies, diverse approaches, internships, entry-level opportunities, and internal promotions. And of course, we're going to shout about it during B Corp Month! It's an important movement, and we look forward to seeing more brands follow suit in the future. Let's continue breaking barriers and empowering women in digital. #BCORPMONTH #BCorp #MovingForward
