As the holiday season brings a natural slowdown in the market, I’m reminded of the importance of giving back to our community. This morning, I had the privilege of volunteering at WestSide Baby alongside my son, Luca.
WestSide Baby does incredible work, ensuring that families in need have access to essential items for their children. It was a meaningful way to spend time together, reflect on gratitude, and contribute to a cause close to our hearts.
This season is a great reminder to support those in need and cherish the moments we share with loved ones. Wishing everyone a joyful and giving holiday season!

“Beyond Relaxation: Volunteering with Tribal & Orphan Children Fulfills the Soul”
Those children came to this world, but to be an orphan or to be born into a place with limited opportunities is not their mistake. Yet, they face challenges that most of us cannot even imagine.
In our bustling lives, we often seek moments of relaxation and tranquility. We plan trips, book vacations and look forward to escaping the routine. However, there is a way to find true fulfillment and relaxation that goes beyond mere recreation: spending a day with tribal or orphaned children who desperately need our support.
Imagine gathering your colleagues and friends, not for a usual outing, but for a meaningful day dedicated to bringing joy and support to these children. Just one day can make a world of difference in their lives and leave your heart feeling fulfilled and content.
Many corporate organizations pride themselves on their contributions to society. Yet, these efforts often remain concentrated within urban areas. It's time to extend our helping hands to the suburban, hillside and remote village regions where help is desperately needed. By reaching out to these areas, we can ensure that our efforts truly make a difference where they are needed most.
So many of us pray for good fortune and wish for a happy life. Let us pray our wishes to God, and as He/she fulfills them, let's offer our gratitude by providing for these needy children in various forms. Be it food, clothing, books, or educational support, every small contribution counts. When we serve those in need, we are indeed serving God.
Organize a day where you and your colleagues visit this kind of children’s. Spend time with them, understand their world, and provide the support they need. Your visit will not only bring smiles to their faces but also offer you a deep sense of inner peace and satisfaction.
Be the Joy bring the joy....

What is the right age to introduce volunteering to our kids?
The recent flooding here in Valencia has devastated so many families, and it’s had me thinking about when—and how—to involve my boys in volunteering.
At 4 and 7, they’re naturally curious and eager to learn, but volunteering introduces big ideas to children around suffering and responsibility.
Volunteering isn’t just about pitching in; it’s about understanding others’ struggles and learning to step outside of our own bubble.
I want my kids to experience what it means to help others, but I also wonder:
When can kids start to neurologically understand empathy, rather than just imitate it?
At what age do they really grasp what it means to be fortunate, or to give without expecting anything in return?
How can we use volunteering experiences to build a foundation of gratitude and perspective?
How do we balance introducing them to these experiences while still letting them be kids?
And how do we help them understand that sometimes just showing up makes a difference?
I’d love to hear how others have introduced volunteering to their children. At what age and in what ways?
Let’s share ideas for raising a generation that understands empathy, connection, and community.

🌎🌱Volunteering and giving back through acts of service can be a meaningful way to cope with grief. By helping others, you shift your focus from your own pain to connection and contribution, which can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Whether through community service, charity work, or simply lending a hand to those in need, giving back not only benefits others but also promotes healing by fostering empathy, gratitude, and a renewed sense of belonging.🌱☀️🌎

Volunteering at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless’s Sort & Pack event was nothing short of epic! Seriously, seeing everyone—from kids to grandparents—come together to support one cause was just fantastic. I mean, who knew packing backpacks could be so motivational? Helping a community like LICH keeps me going; I could tell everyone else felt the same energy.
Now, let’s talk about the heat. I haven’t sweat that much since…well, ever. It was like Mother Nature decided to throw in a free sauna session! But honestly, it was all worth it. The thought of someone out there smiling because of the backpack I packed? Priceless. I can’t wait to do it again at the next event—hopefully, it’ll be a bit cooler!
Also, a big shoutout to our Jovia Financial Credit Union team members, who, internally throughout the organization, helped collect over 1,300 individual school supplies and to everyone who came out to help sort & pack those supplies. There’s a reason they say there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’—it takes all of us together to make a significant impact, and we did a great job together.
