With the news of another recent CEA closure, I implore producers in that market to take a good long look at their cleanout protocols. It is simply imperative that you build downtime into your production schedules for thorough cleaning and sanitation efforts. Building a new facility or expanding an existing one? Plan for cleanout needs and the need to isolate irrigation zones to simplify the process. Overall IPM costs can be reduced and food safety issues averted. In CEA production proper sanitation is just as important as crop health- let BioSafe Systems help reduce your risk! #dontchlorinate #sanidate

THE UNSUNG HEROES OF FOOD PRODUCTION : THE VITAL ROLE OF PUMPS We don’t often think about pumps when we think about how our food arrives on our tables, edible and nutritious, but pumps play a vital role in helping to improve the process so that it remains fast, fresh and efficient. Their key contribution is broad in scope and fundamental to the efficacy and enhancement of food production through what is known as Fluid Handling Systems. The humble pump function is a crucial element in driving efficiency across various stages of the food production process, contributing significantly from irrigation in agriculture through to the transportation of liquids within food processing facilities. Food safety should be farmers priority. -Record-keeping: Maintain detailed records of all pesticide applications, including product names and application dates. -PHI adherence: Strictly observe post-harvest intervals (PHIs) to guarantee that your produce is free from chemical residues before harvesting. -Safe harvesting: Harvest crops only after PHIs have elapsed to ensure they are safe for human consumption. By following these practices, you demonstrate your commitment to responsible farming and contribute to the overall safety of our food supply. #FoodSafetyFriday

After planting and harvesting maize,What next???? Post-harvest losses in rural settings particularly for agricultural products is a significant issue affecting food security. The losses range from mishandling during harvest ,traditional drying techniques, poor storage infrastructures and inadequate knowledge on Post harvest management. Post-harvest losses contribute to significant economic losses increasing food insecurity, reducing profitability to farmers. To reduce post harvest losses ,there’s need to;Improve storage facilities with better packaging, promote efficient transportation systems, encourage proper drying and organize special trainings tailored to post harvest management. #farmersfirst

At Harvest to Gather, we're dedicated to using holistic management to achieve regenerative outcomes on the land we manage. This allows us to produce regenerative food including Ontario beef and pastured poultry—a seasonal product that's available through VG Meats in Simcoe and Stoney Creek. We raise chickens on pasture for a few reasons: the exceptional taste and tenderness, and because producing poultry this way has a positive impact on the environment around us. You see, chickens are great at pecking and agitating the ground as they eat—essentially providing irrigation—and their manure makes excellent natural fertilizer for the pasture. Once the chickens have been moved to new grass, we wait for a period of time and then move cattle onto those fields so the cows can reap the benefits (lush, thick green grass for grazing). It all comes together in one planned grazing strategy—please visit our website or contact us to learn more, or visit https://vgfarmtocity.ca/ to order some pastured chicken now. #simcoeontario #stoneycreek #hamont #holisticmanagement #regenerativefood

Healthy Chicken is Farmer's Pride Healthy chickens symbolize a farmer's dedication to sustainable and ethical farming practices. They ensure a reliable source of high-quality eggs and meat, contributing to food security and nutrition. Farmers who prioritize the health of their chickens implement practices such as proper nutrition, clean living conditions, regular health checks, and ethical treatment. Raising healthy chickens is a source of immense pride for farmers, reflecting their hard work and expertise. This pride fosters community trust, as consumers today seek ethically and sustainably produced food. Farmers who take pride in their healthy chickens build lasting relationships with their customers, providing farm-fresh products they can trust. In essence, healthy chickens not only secure farmers' livelihoods but also contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for all. #EsperanzaFarm #HealthyLiving #EthicalFarming #Farming #Sustainability
