Key word - RESPOND. So much of our lives is spent in fight/flight/freeze/appease mode. When we are in this space we react. I especially like this concept because you may not be a cause but are almost always a contributor; whether it is from your action or inaction, your over-communication or under-communication. When look at ourselves as co-creators in a cause/circumstance it also enables us to have more power in feeling as though we are able to respond vs react. 🤔 What is the true cost of failure? I love how Paul explains that failure is mission-critical regardless of our title or position. He speaks of it through his shared experience in NASA. As a service member and, more importantly, an infantry officer, a poor decision on my end can result in a loss of life, which is the worst failure I could possibly imagine. It doesn’t matter what our backgrounds are. Failure is a part of growth. No one has ever chased something hard without failing time and time again. But what separates a pal from others is that when it’s time to show up and switch it on, they do not fail! They put in the work, trained for those moments, and built strong, resilient teams that can weather any challenge in the face of adversity and win because they understand the cost of losing!
