Barbenheimer emerged as a powerhouse in both zeitgeist and box office revenue, but it was the unexpected success of Illumination 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ that truly stole the show as the most lucrative movie of 2023, per Deadline Hollywood. Congrats Sam, J-T Ladt, and team. With LuckyChap Entertainment’s Barbie (well done Ynon, Robbie, Lisa, Kevin), Sony Pictures Entertainment ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, Paramount Pictures ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’, and Universal Pictures Oppenheimer rounding out the top five. From a studio perspective, NBCUniversal asserted its dominance with three entries in the top 10, including 'Oppenheimer' and 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie', along with Blumhouse 'Fifty Nights at Freddy’s'. However, with a keen eye on this year's pipeline and current digital signal trends, it's evident that The Walt Disney Company is poised for a significant shift in the top 10 rank hierarchy. With a stronger position and a wealth of highly anticipated releases, Disney is primed to make waves. #media #boxoffice #entertainmentindustry #disney #paramount #warnerbros #nbcuniversal

Very good insight! I agree, the landscape is shifting. Adapt or die. As a TV and movie production company we can align with the streaming platforms, and with half a dozen companies reach HALF of the entire world's population. By doing so we can also control our own destiny and costs. That is alluring. The media distribution marketplace will dramatically change in the next 36 months. Is there a place for cinema, theatres, streaming, and other alternative delivery methods to co-exist? Time will tell, we all adapt, we all evolve, that is the nature of business. Here is a prelude of things to come...

Life doesn’t present a clear roadmap, but that's what makes the journey worthwhile. We often hesitate to move forward without certainty, but it is through action, taking one step at a time, that the path becomes clear. Each small decision adds a new layer to your journey, illuminating what comes next. Consider Walt Disney, who faced numerous failures early in his career. From being fired for "lack of creativity" to seeing his first animation studio go bankrupt, his early path was anything but certain. However, with each setback, Disney adapted, learned, and continued to take risks. Eventually, those small, incremental steps led to the creation of the world’s most beloved entertainment empire. Disney didn't have everything figured out from the start, but each step he took opened new doors and revealed greater possibilities. Rather than waiting for all the answers, move forward, because with every step, the journey becomes clearer. #trusttheprocess #takethestep #progressonestepatatime #selfgrowth #waltdisney #sumitpathak #linus #carvedxb #growthmindset

Before every shift at Walt Disney World, I reminded myself of this quote. Of course, it's easy to spot wonder in a curated world of magic. But there's just as much wonder to be found in our own day-to-day, if we remember to watch for it. ✨ Where have you found wonder recently? ✨ ____________ For more thoughts on creativity, hit "Follow"

Did you know? Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper for 'lacking imagination' and 'having no original ideas.' This same man went on to: - Create Mickey Mouse - Build Disneyland - Win 22 Academy Awards - Transform entertainment forever But here's the part people miss: Between that firing and his success? Multiple failures: - His first company went bankrupt - He lost the rights to his first successful character - He faced rejection after rejection Yet today, we don't remember him for his failures. We remember him for Disneyland. We remember him for Disney World. We remember him for never giving up. The truth is: Your current situation isn't your final destination. Your setback isn't your identity. Your rejection isn't your story. Whatever you're facing right now: - A career setback - A business struggle - A dream that feels impossible Remember Disney's story. Sometimes the biggest 'no' in your life Leads to your biggest 'yes.' What setback are you turning into a comeback? Walt Disney World provides an incredible customer experience. It was truly impressive to see what can happen when all employees in a company buy into the mission. Every “cast member” from the street sweepers to Mickey Mouse are committed to their guests having a magical visit. Kylo Ren and the Stormtroopers are show stoppers but they made sure to find every child in a wheel chair and take photos with them. Kylo Ren and the Stormtroopers were not nice to those children. They were Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers to them. Never broke character. Truly impressive to see everyone on the team rowing the same way. Employees play a huge role in #publicrelations as they shape perception, build trust and create a lasting reputation. #publicrelations #corporatecommunications #communicationsstrategy

Senior citizens not retiring and maintaining business power is a fascinating concern impacting the labor market. While it is important to allow people with experience to continue to contribute to a company's success, we are now beginning to see stagnation. Specifically, younger people (50s and below) can no longer move up the corporate ladder because there is no space for them to move into. As the global population gets older and people live longer, this issue will only get worse. ===== "And that’s the problem. Or at least it is for a new generation of ambitious show-business strivers under the age of 50 who find themselves unhappily stuck on the middle rungs of Hollywood’s corporate ladder. Unlike their bosses, some of whom ascended to the heights of authority in their 30s (Emanuel) and even their late 20s (De Luca), young professionals today — who are toiling in an industry plagued with title deflation and ever-diminishing paydays — see no clear path to the top. Not one that isn’t blocked by an all-powerful boomer who’s been perched in a corner office since the Bush administration. The first one. “These people have been making movies since the 1990s,” notes one 50-something former head of production. “That’s a long time to have a position of authority and to be a gatekeeper of cultural decisions.”" https://lnkd.in/gQxDSeX5
"The point here is, Rothman is turning 70 and has been in charge at Sony (and before that, Fox) for a very, very long time. As it happens, he’s not the only silver mogul in Hollywood these days. Bob Iger is 73 and has been running Disney off and on for nearly 20 years. Ari Emanuel, 63, has been running WME for nearly 30 years, since he started his agency in 1995 (after starting in the mail room at CAA, the company co-founded by then-28-year-old Michael Ovitz in 1975). Jeremy Zimmer, 66, has been running UTA for more than 30 years, since he co-founded that agency in 1991. Michael De Luca is a relative spring chicken at 59, but he’s been fronting studio slates — at New Line, MGM, Amazon and Warner Bros. — for three decades." https://lnkd.in/g--xxHGr #CAA #WME #MGM #Amazon #disney

Inspirational Thought of the Day Did you know that the man behind Mickey Mouse and the magical world of Disneyland started his journey with nothing but a dream and relentless determination? Walt Disney failed. Again and again. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. ❗️ Fired for "lack of creativity" ❗️ Animation company went bankrupt ❗️ Mickey Mouse rejected over 300 times ❗️ Disneyland turned down 302 times for funding ❗️ Nervous breakdown after losing his best animator ❗️ Animators went on strike before WWII ❗️ Studios taken over by the Army in 1941 He had every reason to quit. Every excuse to blame the world. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. ➜ Believed in his vision. ➜ And look where that led. 𝗧𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄: You don’t lose when you fail. You lose when you give up. Disney’s story reminds us: - It’s not the failures that matter, it’s how you rise each time. - It’s not about waiting for the perfect circumstances, - it’s about 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 them. And if you’re on the verge of giving up on your dream... 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘆'𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." 𝗣.𝗦. What's your biggest takeaway from Disney's story today? Are you ready to dream big despite the setbacks? #Challenges #Disney #OvercomingSetbacks
