This October we partnered with Teesside University London to help bridge the gap between the conceptual and practical applications of cyber security. "But how?" we hear you ask... Through a multi-phase, team-based competition aimed at developing practical cybersecurity skills. Student teams of up to four members analysed a simulated network, identified vulnerabilities, and crafted security recommendations using industry-standard tools like Nessus, NMAP, and GoWitness. The competition resulted in a presentation to a judging panel, with students detailing their methods, technical findings, proposed solutions, and reflections on the experience. Each team worked incredibly hard throughout, developing new skills both in cyber security and in team work. The challenge was a great success and was down to the wonderful team and Teesside University and our own brilliant team from Waterstons. #TeessideUni #WeAreWaterstons #CyberSecurity #TeamWork #CyberSecurityChallenge

🌐 Taking on the US Cyber Challenge! 🔍💻 I’m thrilled to share that I recently took part in the US Cyber Challenge: Cyber Quests Fall 2024! This challenge was all about tackling real-world cybersecurity issues focused on insider threats and the tools used to uncover them. The experience was intense, educational, and a fantastic opportunity to level up my skills. 💪 The tasks pushed me to analyze network packets for tracking down insider activities and identifying exfiltration techniques. I digged into Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, collecting clues from forensic artifacts. I also worked through multiple files and resources, using Command-Line tools and Wireshark for packet analysis and data filtering. Each question felt like a puzzle of a bigger picture. Participating in this challenge wasn’t just about scoring points (though that’s always a plus! 😊); it was an eye-opener to the real world of cybersecurity. Huge thanks to Center for Internet Security for making this possible! If you’re interested in exploring cybersecurity hands-on, this challenge is definitely a fun and practical way to sharpen your skills! 🔥 #Cybersecurity #USCyberChallenge #LearningInAction #CyberQuests #NetworkSecurity #Infosec #Forensics #DataProtection #HackingSkills #ChallengeAccepted
