This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. It takes a community, working together, to nourish our neighbors! Act with Action House by volunteering, hosting a drive, or donating to support our work! Give to the Max Day is here! Today is a celebration of the incredible abundance of our community. It is a day to look within ourselves to acknowledge and share the unique abundance in each of our lives: How am I showing up for my neighbors today? How can I challenge attitudes of scarcity, when I know that our community has each other's backs? What can I do today to make sure my neighbors know they can count on our community safety net? 2024 is the hungriest year our community has ever seen. CEAP is on track for a record amount of food served as we see the highest need for our Food Market in our 52-year history. At the same time, we know that many neighbors face barriers - like mobility challenges and lack of access to transportation – that prevent them from reaching CEAP’s doors. That’s where “CEAP On the Move” steps in. No matter the barrier, CEAP is here to fill gaps in access. We need to know – are you with us in the fight against hunger? www.givemn.org/CEAP24

As a bit of balance to the usual noise. With the 🐣 Easter school holidays 🐣looming large, many families find themselves more stretched than usual and a lot of kids end up going hungry. So in the spirit of always looking for the helpers, please do consider (this includes companies) supporting and/or elevating organisations working on the ground to combat this reality as well as support kids in school who are not receiving meals. Some links below, but please do comment with more. ✨ Magic Breakfast - offers over 200,000 breakfasts every day to children and young people in schools across England and Scotland. https://lnkd.in/ecGbGcHJ ✨ FareShare - is a UK national network of charitable food redistributes, made up of 18 independent organisations. They take quality surplus food from across the food industry and deliver it to 8,500+ frontline charities and community groups. This includes school breakfast clubs, elderly people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters and community cafes. https://fareshare.org.uk/ ✨ The Felix Project - aims to change the fact that millions of people in the UK regularly experience hunger, yet tonnes of surplus fresh food is thrown away every day. The project collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold, and delivers it to schools and charities. They also run a specific programme in London, alongside The Mayors Fund, to tackle the issue of school holiday shortfalls. https://lnkd.in/eXVpcmgz https://lnkd.in/eb3d8BD2 ✨ Little Village - adding for good measure as they (and most baby banks) are constantly in need to support and donations as they receive an ask for help on average every 45 seconds right now, as 4,3 million children live in poverty in the UK.

HOPE FOR THE HUNGRY 🙏 We’re focusing on the ongoing issue of hunger, a crisis that persists in many regions, including Europe. Through our Hunger Relief programs, we want to light up Europe with the love of Jesus, providing essential support to those in need where hunger relief is crucial In the city of Zagreb, Croatia alone, there are 190,080 retired individuals, highlighting a significant portion of the population who may face food insecurity. For this project, our attention is on the elderly and vulnerable community members near our office. Among them, approximately 30 individuals over the age of 70 live on minimal government support and struggle to meet their basic needs. According to local social services, around 150 people in the broader area are in similar situations, but our primary focus will be on the 30 most vulnerable, ensuring our support reaches those closest to us and most in need. We are supporting this community by visiting families and providing food boxes that contain a range of products such as flour, milk, sugar, oil, pureed tomato, semolina, polenta, coffee, rice, pasta, red beans, brown beans, green beans, sausage, eggs, salt, pâté, meat ragu, corn, and chickpeas. Do you want to support this initiative and help shine the light of Jesus in the lives of these people? If so, you can visit: https://lnkd.in/eyDu485r #cbneurope #lightupeurope #hopeforthehungry

This Thanksgiving, we at JPNDC hope you take a moment to relax, reflect, and enjoy time with your loved ones as we look ahead to the year to come. We also encourage you to use this time to learn more about the true history of Thanksgiving. While traditions are important, it’s essential to understand and honor the deeper meaning behind them, especially when it comes to the impact on Indigenous communities. By educating ourselves and others, we can celebrate more mindfully and responsibly. Here are four ways you can start: 1. Learn the Real History: Explore the true origins of Thanksgiving and its effects on Indigenous peoples. This article is a great place to start: https://lnkd.in/e7ihm3yK 2. Listen to Indigenous Voices: Hear messages of unity and resilience from Indigenous Rights Radio: https://lnkd.in/eMu-xKda. 3. Support Native Businesses: This holiday season, consider supporting Native entrepreneurs by shopping at Buy Native https://buynative.com/. 4. Amplify Indigenous Voices: Support organizations like the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness (MCNAA) through donations and by sharing their work to help raise awareness and uplift Indigenous communities. https://www.mcnaa.org/. Let’s continue to grow, learn, and give thanks in ways that honor all communities. Wishing you a meaningful and thoughtful Thanksgiving! #IndigenousVoices #ThanksgivingWithPurpose #JPNDC #GivingThanks
