🎉 Exciting news! 🎉 We would like to congratulate BME faculty member, Dr. Jared Weis, as the new recipient of the American Cancer Society Research Scholar Grant: “Predicting Cancer Treatment-Related Cardiotoxicity by Imaging Cardiac Mechanical Stiffness” 🎗️ Insight into this innovative research: Breast cancer patients are at risk for cancer treatment-related cardiotoxicities with long-term risks of cardiac dysfunction and heart failure that significantly degrades the quality and length of breast cancer survivorship. The goal of this research is to optimize and assess a novel biophysics-informed imaging analysis tool for quantifying myocardial tissue mechanical stiffness to improve cardiotoxicity management strategies for breast cancer patients at risk of irreversible cardiovascular damage. 🤝 Thank you to co-investigators: 🔹 Giselle C. Melendez, M.D. from the Wake Forest Department of Cardiology 🔹 Ralph D’Agostino, PhD, FASA from the Wake Forest Biostatistics & Data Science Department 🔹 Alexandra Thomas, MD, FACP from Duke University School of Medicine & Duke Cancer Institute 🔹 Jennifer Jordan, PhD, FSCMR from Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Engineering Your contributions to this research is greatly valued and instrumental in advancing knowledge within the cancer research field! 👏 Final thank you to the American Cancer Society for funding this important and innovated cancer research! 🤝 #ACS #CancerResearch #WakeBME #WeisLab
