Read about MicrostripTransitions for Wideband RF Filtering in the December 2024 issue of IEEE Microwave Magazine! "Transitioning to RF Filtering: Emerging Applications of Microstrip-to-Microstrip Transitions for Wideband RF Passive Filtering Components" by Li Yang and Roberto Gomez Garcia. Three-pole wide-band bandpass filters for 5G/6G applications can be realized by two-layer microstrip-to-microstrip transitions composed of two back-to-back connected microstrip-to-slot-line transitions. https://lnkd.in/e8ENUEfi #MicrowaveTechnology #Innovation #MicrowaveMagazine #IEEEMicrowaveMagazine #MicrowaveEngineering #DecemberIssue #RWW #RadioWirelessWeek #RadioandWirelessWeek #MicrostripTransition #RFFilter #5G #6G

We are pleased to share the graphical abstract "Design and Implementation of Integrated Dual-Mode Pulse and Continuous-Wave Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectrometers". 📝 Authored by: Jui-Hung Sun; Difei Wu; Peter Qin; Constantine Sideris In this work, we present the first realization of a fully integrated pulse EPR spectrometer on-chip. The spectrometer utilizes a subharmonic direct-conversion architecture that enables an on-chip oscillator to be used as a dual-mode EPR sensing cell, capable of both CW and pulse-mode operation. An on-chip reference oscillator is used to injection-lock the sensor to form pulses and also to downconvert the pulse EPR signal. 🔗 Continue reading on IEEE Xplore here: https://loom.ly/AObhWcI #TBioCAS #Biomedical #CircuitsandSystems #graphicalabstract

Today's featured paper in our May issue presents an Ultralow Noise Figure LNA. This paper introduces a sophisticated approach to broadband low noise amplifier (LNA) design that employs a novel three-winding transformer and a multi-array transistor in the first stage for ultralow noise figure performance. Device: Ultralow noise figure broadband LNA in 65 nm CMOS Spectrum: 32-46 GHz Novelty: Three-winding input transformer in the LNA 1st stage with negative feedback matches the input impedance and improves bandwidth. Multi-array “large” transistor in the 1st stage overcomes the NFmin impact of the low Q of the input matching transformer. Pole tuning technique with series inductors in the 2nd stage improves both bandwidth and flatness. Performance: 2.2-3.2 dB noise figure from 32 to 46 GHz; 19.2-21.5 dB gain from 32-to 46 GHz; -7.6 dB third-order intercept (IIP3) at 38 GHz; 13.5 GHz effective bandwidth (BWeff) from 32 to 45.5 GHz. 22 mW power consumption at 1 V; 0.16 mm2 core size. Application: Integration with phased antenna array designs for 5G and beyond. 📡 New #ieeetap #featured #article 🌐 Single-Transistor Impedance Matching Circuit for Over-Hundred-Octave Active Antennas Bandwidth enhancement through impedance matching has been a constant pursuit for antennas. This paper proposes an active impedance matching circuit with an over-hundred-octave bandwidth based on a single field effect transistor (FET) biased in its ohmic region. With it, an active antenna is realized, covering a 10-1800 MHz bandwidth. S. Wang and Y. Li, "Single-Transistor Impedance Matching Circuit for Over-Hundred-Octave Active Antennas," in IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, vol. 72, no. 3, pp. 2391-2398, March 2024, doi: 10.1109/TAP.2024.3351203. 📰 Read it at: https://lnkd.in/draFGw5s IEEE IEEE AP-S Young Professionals IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society
