Baltimore’s urban renewal efforts, though praised for sparking growth, should serve as a warning to San Antonio. Large-scale projects like stadiums and convention centers often overlook the needs of local residents, leading to displacement and unequal benefits. San Antonio risks repeating these mistakes by prioritizing a new stadium for the Spurs over more inclusive development. Instead, the city should focus on projects that support local communities and foster sustainable, long-term growth. Take a look at the San Antonio Current article for more information on Baltimore’s convention center. #UrbanRenewal #SustainableGrowth #SanAntonio #CommunityFirst https://lnkd.in/g7ngakkg https://lnkd.in/gZ3Ni7z4

The future redevelopment of downtown Vancouver’s Waterfront Station precinct and the Gastown railyard has the potential to be profoundly transformative for the city, reported Daily Hive. “There’s a great potential to transform a railway yard from a forgotten place into a green community living and active gathering place,” Joe Hruda told Daily Hive Urbanized. “It’s also an international transportation hub and gateway for Vancouver residents living around the harbour and international tourists from around the world.” "Hruda is an architect and the founder and president of Vancouver-based CIVITAS Studio: Urban Design and Planning. The company has performed major master planning work for significant district and neighbourhood projects worldwide. Some of its most prominent local work includes the urban planning for Coal Harbour, Vancouver Convention Centre’s West Building, and Northeast False Creek." "Working with former Vancouver chief urban planner Larry Beasley, Hruda’s team recently produced an unsolicited urban planning case study for transforming the entire waterfront area north of Gastown between Canada Place and Crab Park’s eastern edge bordering Main Street." https://lnkd.in/gFnUgxRi #vancouver #waterfront #redevelopment

"Count the cranes" One of the simplest ways of determining how 'hot' a real estate market is, though there is some wisdom to it. While Burlington will never have the dazzling skyscrapers of a large market, there are a historical amount of cranes dotting the greater area's skyline, with more in the pipeline. Unsurprisingly, most of these projects focus on the area's housing shortage - but all are great indicators of the positive momentum of our market. We have something that will never go out of style - people want to live here. A few examples? -Cambrian Rise: multi-phased residential downtown-adjacent urban infill with on-site amenities never seen before in BTV -Burlington High School: Brand new $165M high school for the Queen City -CityPlace: multi-phased mixed-use prime BTV downtown urban infill with live/work/play -City Center: Creating a South Burlington 'downtown' from scratch with dense housing and ample transportation options -Over 1,100 units in the pipeline near Hula -200,000 SF manufacturing facility for Beta ...Just to name a few. Unlock your housing, unlock your economy, unlock your prosperity!
