Yesterday was my Dad’s 81st birthday 🎂 I took him to the F1 Exhibition at the ExCel. It wasn’t too busy, but my spidey senses were on high alert. One gentleman with Tourette’s was having the best time. ➡️ What stood out to me was how people around him simply carried on as usual. ➡️ Security went out of their way, letting us in first so my Dad didn’t have to queue. ➡️ A lady who appeared distressed was gently offered a quiet space to compose herself. There were no physical barriers around the cars, just polite signs asking people not to touch. And guess what? Nobody did. ➡️ There was even a lady in a motorised wheelchair, and people instinctively moved aside to make room for her. What struck me most yesterday was the kindness, acceptance, and understanding I witnessed. It was a masterclass in community, togetherness, and support. During my degree, I studied group dynamics - what makes groups work well, and why they sometimes go wrong. Yesterday, I saw theory come to life. In psychology, there’s a concept called the in-group: when people share a common identity or interest, they instinctively form a supportive, cohesive group. F1 fans, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance, formed this in-group effortlessly. They didn’t need guidelines to act inclusively - it was automatic. ➡️ So, why do organisations struggle? Unlike the natural in-group that forms among F1 fans, organisations often lack the frameworks to create this level of belonging. ➡️ The key lies in awareness, intention, and shared purpose. Building an inclusive culture takes proactive effort—raising awareness, providing training, and supporting people to understand and celebrate differences. F1 has always been part of my life because of my Dad. While I wouldn’t sit down to watch a race on my own, yesterday reminded me why sport fascinates me—it has an incredible power to bring people together. But what stood out most was how easily a crowd of strangers created a welcoming, supportive group. This is exactly what I’m passionate about replicating in workplaces: helping organisations create environments where everyone feels like they belong. ➡️ Are you ready to build a truly INCLUSIVE work I believe creating a truly inclusive teams starts with awareness and training. If you’re ready to make your workplace as supportive and successful as the F1 community, let’s work together. Send me a DM today to get started; neurodiversity awareness training starts at just £400. Together, we can make inclusivity your organisation’s greatest strength.

It's Monday, and what a week this will be! As well as the usual fun work with Pipster Solutions Ltd and our clients (and there is lots!), #BidBites is back - on the brand new day of WEDNESDAY, but at the usual 12.30 UK time. As we head into the darker days here in the UK, we need to be mindful of looking after ourselves. Do come and help Hannah Thorne CP APMP create a discusion and article that will help all our fellow bid professionals manage the stess that can sometimes (not always) go hand in hand with our profession. https://lnkd.in/evzm73Wd And on Friday, the very first in-person International Day for Bids and Proposals connections event in Bath at House of St John's in Bath, which is going to be GLORIOUS! It's been a pleasure to work with Jon Darby Melissa Mae Brown CAP CPP APMP, Tony Birch and Steven Coles, CPP.APMPto provide this event FREE for all attendees. We have some lovely things planned for you all, and the lunch is going to be scrumptious. A few people have pulled out today, so if you still want to come and haven't secured your ticket, do drop me a message. Then on Saturday, I will be completing my next Rat Race Adventure Sports Sea to Summit trilogy mountain - Scafell Pike. I'm not going to lie, after 15 hours out there for Ben Nevis and heels that are black and blue from the training walks, I am actually very scared about this one. But I know I just have to dig deep, put one foot in front of the other, and get it done (while admiring the views hopefully!). So on the actual day of International Day for Bids and Proposals, Sunday 29th September, I will hopefully have my feet up somewhere, enjoying a large slab of cake and reflecting on everything I've experienced in over twenty years of bidding. What will you be doing on Sunday? #Septender #IDBP24 #connections #wednesdaywisdom #ListenUpMessageInSpeakOut #bidding #community #peerlearning #peersupport #stress #wellbeing Imade Description: I think this might be a photo taken from Scafell Pike looking down onto Wastwater lake, but never having been there, I could be wrong. It shows a very fit person looking down onto the lake with their walking poles and it looks like the sun is going down. I'm hoping to feel that fit when I get to this point, but we have to do a half marathon before we start climbing, so I'm not holding my breath!

Here is this week's edition of your MUST KNOW connections to grow your network personally and professionally. First up is Ryan Bacon with Involta. I think I should be an honorary Involtan (Involtian?) what do you think Nick & Ryan? Anyways it was good to see Ryan on this side of the state for once and we were able to talk about so many things. Fellow bald men unite! If you haven't had the chance to meet Ryan, we say he's a better Josh Holst for a reason! He's talented and knowledgeable. Next is Kristian Shatto, SHRM-CP with IP Pathways finally we were able to connect in real life! IP Pathways has a gem of a human help run the HR. Time went by really fast and look forward to watching her continue to grow in her (relatively) new role. I got to start my day with IP Pathways AND end it with them too at their Bites & Brews happy hour. It was great to meet so many people that I had only been connected with on LinkedIn! Last, but definitely not least, is Nathanael Buch with the Iowa Wolves. The season is coming to a close (only 6 games left!) and you should consider showing up. Nate is your go to to help you with any of your ticket needs! Plus, season tickets for next year go live next week so if you're looking for a cool way to enjoy basketball or show appreciation to clients or employees having a package might be a great idea! Nate can help you with that, too. Now we just need to work on Jacob from LinkedIn bobblehead night 😉 I'll say it again: MAKE SURE TO MAKE EFFORTS TO MEET YOUR #LINKEDIN CONNECTIONS. They are so beneficial to life and business. Connect with these people. Get to know these people. Promote these people. Together we can change the world. #promotepeoplenotproducts #dsmusa #reppdesmoines #networking #jacobfromlinkedin #businessdevelopment #youngprofessionals #reppicr

Does your future depend on sponsors? We talk to a lot of people who want sponsors. (It’s kind of our job lol). They fall into roughly 2 groups. 1 - Just hobbyists. They want to pursue their passion without paying out of pocket. 2 - Professional sponsorship-seekers who NEED to bring in sponsorship revenue as a full time job, otherwise their business or program fails. If you’re in the SECOND group, I want to talk to you. Book some time on our calendar here. https://lnkd.in/e52QVuHn We will put together an action plan to get you sponsors in 90 days.

3 tips to successfully survive Aspire 2024 ⬇️ 👉 Learn by heart ‘Hall of Fame’, our hymn. Or don’t - chances are you’ll know every verse after listening to it 30.000 times at Aspire (not for hypnotic purposes, we swear!!!) 👉 Sleep before Aspire. You’ll keep hearing this from our Alumni: rest as much as you can before coming to Oradea. We won’t force you to spend your nights networking & partying, it’s not like you’ll be trapped in some kind of escape room thing. Buuut you’ll want to talk to everyone because every participant is so uniquely extraordinary. 👉 One of our speakers who shall not be named is renowned for memorising all participant descriptions from our booklet. We encourage you to do the same - stalk everyone. Not for weird reasons, of course. This is for skipping over the formalities & getting into those deep conversation that matter ASAP. 💬 Dearest Alumni, what would you add to the list?

Family Connections' staff have big hearts and a commitment to excellence through their work every day. Please take some time to read this month's employee spotlight and learn more about those who are helping us continue to be the place where hope meets possibility. Dave Brown Family Connections' IT Support Specialist ➡️What inspired you to work for Family Connections❓️ DB: To be honest, I was between jobs when I heard about the company. A friend recommended I come and work with her in the SVS program because I had experience working with kids. I was reluctant at first, but eventually I took her advice and here we are. ➡️How long have you worked here❓️ DB: My first day with the Supervised Visitation Services program was late November of 2017. I applied to the IT Department in Dec 2019. ➡️What has been the greatest moment in your career at FC❓️ DB: I’ve had a lot of great moments, but having the flexibility to switch programs and work in IT made a huge difference in my engagement and energy within Family Connections. ➡️What do you enjoy most about working here❓️ DB: One of the best things about working at FC is the people, hands down. So, if I’ve helped you out or taught you something any given day, I can go home happy. ➡️What are your hopes for the future of Family Connections❓️ DB: I know that the work that FC does is extremely important for the community we serve. I hope that we continue to attract the best talent to continue helping folks in the future. ➡️What is your favorite thing to do outside of your work at Family Connections❓️ DB: I have a few, but my favorites have been coaching k-8 lacrosse/soccer, snowboarding, reading, neglecting to practice guitar and playing music loud on my commute home. ➡️Is there anything else you would like to share❓️ DB: Thank you to everyone at FC for trusting me with your technical problems, and to the friends I’ve met along the way. And as usual: Don’t Panic #familyconnectionsnj #WhereHopeMeetPossibility
