Richard Branson and Virgin have partnered with charity Made By Dyslexia to launch DyslexicU, the world’s first free online University of Dyslexic Thinking. Made By Dyslexia's new “intelligence 5.0” report shows that today's AI-driven world needs a new kind of intelligence, and that dyslexics have the skills most sought-after in every job, in every sector, globally- thanks to research from Randstad Enterprise. DyslexicU is free to access for anyone, at any stage of life, with a curiosity to learn more about the skills so relevant to this new world. #DyslexicThinking#DyslexicU

Lately, I’ve been thinking more and more about how the world needs a new school of thought. An AI-driven future is fast becoming a reality, and the skills we’ll need to thrive in this world are not what they once were. Skills like lateral thinking, complex problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are ones that AI cannot replace. They are also skills that are inherent in dyslexic thinkers. When I first heard about this from a report by Made By Dyslexia, it got me thinking… what if we could teach non-dyslexic thinkers these skills while also helping dyslexics hone these skills even further. A university, perhaps, that would be available to everyone – even those of us who haven’t finished school! Well, Made By Dyslexia and the charity's CEO, Kate Griggs, went out and made this happen. Did you know that unique strengths such as innovation, lateral thinking, complex problem solving and interpersonal skills, which are sought after in the era of AI and technology, are often associated with dyslexic thinking?
Despite this, nine out of 10 dyslexics say their organisation needs to learn more about it, according to Made By Dyslexia, a global charity. I became a tech entrepreneur in 2001 and was always accused of being "different" or "seeing things differently" or even outride rude. Yet, it was the reason I predicted things correctly in the highly competitive and high-pressure tech environments. It allowed me to move into sectors early before the hype cycle.
For example, I focused on AI since 2004 and, in 2018, I started working on building my current company Nebuli which focuses on responsible AI and AI ethics. Both were well before AI became a thing. The bottom line is that I see my "disability" as a perk and an advantage.
Hence, when I select people to join my team, I never look at their qualifications (frankly I don't care about certification). I look at how they think. Their creativity, their perks! I tell candidates: "Don't show me your PhDs. I want to see how you can solve this problem and demonstrate to me that you can think outside the box".
As a result, I've had the privilege of working with some amazingly intelligent and creative people who made me a better innovator myself. I posted on LinkedIn a few days ago that some people use AI to hide their perceived weaknesses. I use AI to empower mine and show it to the world unapologetically!
Below is a good discussion on this topic. It's about time society, schools, governments and institutions start thinking outside the box themselves. People are different. et, these entities still treat people and children as if they're in sausage factories.

We explored the potential for collaboration, and I’m excited to share the positive impact we’ve made together for local charity Age UK Wandsworth, during our volunteer day 🤗
Rita graciously led one of her Wellbeing Maths sessions for the clients at Age UK Wandsworth, which was a tremendous success. This experience highlighted how mathematics can significantly support and enhance mental health at any age 🟰
Often perceived solely as an academic discipline, mathematics offers profound benefits for mental well-being 🧠, including:
1. Cognitive Stimulation and Mental Resilience: Engaging with maths exercises the brain, improving cognitive function and resilience, particularly as we age.
2. Reduction of Anxiety through Structure and Control: The logical framework of maths provides a calming effect, offering clarity and focus for those feeling overwhelmed.
3. Meditative and Calming Effects: Solving mathematical problems can be a meditative practice, fostering mindfulness and concentration.
4. Boosting Problem-Solving Skills: Regular engagement with maths enhances our ability to tackle everyday challenges, boosting confidence and self-sufficiency.

Growing up in the ‘90s, I went through school when dyslexia was barely understood, let alone other neurodiverse needs. Support was minimal, and I had to find my own way to adapt and try to keep up. The system simply wasn’t built with students with additional needs in mind.
Today, there’s far more awareness and research about how kids learn differently. We know that one-size-fits-all approaches don’t work.
Yes, we’ve made progress, and there are more tools, specialized educators, and resources available. But that progress hasn’t been fast when compared to how advanced we are with technology. We need a bold shift in how education adapts to support every type of learner—not just those who fit neatly into the traditional mold.
Real change in education means we need to stop seeing diverse learning needs as exceptions to accommodate and start building systems that celebrate and leverage these differences.

At EnableAll, we believe in making all aspects of our society more accessible for the disabled community, which means that those with Dyslexia and similar neurodiverse traits should not only be accommodated for in the education spaces, but also celebrated.
Here’s to recognising the square pegs in the round holes, and changing the digital world once and for all, so every person has equal access.
