A Fine Wine Focus on Piedmont and Tuscany. A great time to invest. These two regions produce nearly all of the top-end, investable, wines from Italy and we've got a huge range of them on our Fine Wine List, whether you are looking to invest or drink. #Piedmont is the more traditional of the two, producing #Barolo and #Barbaresco from the Nebbiolo grape. There’s no such thing as a Grand Cru Barolo or Barbaresco, so the name of the vineyard and producer matters hugely. Amongst the most famous Barolo vineyards are #Brunate, #Cannubi and #Monprivato, while the famous producers are @Conterno, Roberto Voerzio, Vietti and many others. Barbaresco is usually considered better value as the wines are less well-known worldwide, but Gaja differs from the norm; his Barbaresco single vineyards (Costa Russi, Sori Tildin and Sori San Lorenzo) release at higher prices than his Barolos and are generally more sought-after. Tuscany still means #Chianti Classico and #Brunello di Montalcino for some, but the prices of the indigenous wines have long been overtaken by the ‘Super Tuscans’. #Sassicaia was the first of the #SuperTuscans, produced when owner Mario Incisa della Rochetta looked to Bordeaux to produce better wine and planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc on his estate. At first the wine was for friends but soon buyers and other producers heard about it and wanted in on the action. Before long, Antinori was producing #Tignanello and #Solaia. The mid 1980s saw the release of #Ornellaia followed by Ornellaia’s Masseto, a 100% Merlot wine with its sights set on emulating Pétrus. Super Tuscan collectors have seen prices rise sharply over the last decade, taking the value of their collections with them. Values have recently softened, so this looks a good time to start or increase your collection of these magical wines before time sees their seemingly inexorable price rises restart. Interesting Pinot Noir tasting It's been a while, but the time had finally come. This time we decided to organize a tasting around Pinot Noir from various interesting regions. Pinot Noir is a versatile, generally cool-climate grape that can often give a good expression of the terroir. Naturally, Pinot Noir is queen in Burgundy, where we can find the very best wines. Martin Schwarz – Spätburgunder-Portugieser 2017 The small region of Saxony is located in deep Germany. Here we find the Martin Schwarz vineyard with 6 hectares of vineyards on the steep slopes along the Saxon Wine Route. Wine management here is completely manual, partly because of the steep slopes. Bernard Rion Beaune 2020 It was in 1896 that the history of Domaine Armelle and Bernard Rion began. It was founded in Vosne Romanée and since then the know-how has been passed on from generation to generation. The 3rd generation of winemakers has now taken over and they are working the 9.5 hectares of vines in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. https://lnkd.in/eCDF7kBP

Luxembourg - Who was there? Have you tried it? I am deeply impressed. I briefly visited the area during a quick trip that started at the source of the Moselle River in France and followed the river up to Koblenz where it meets the Rhine. I knew that there was wine cultivation in Luxembourg, but I was completely unaware of the quality, the beauty of the area, and the level of professionalism among the winemakers. We've written a little summary, so if you would like to read a bit about Luxembourg and its wine world, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/dvW3juYK Otherwise, a brief summary: - A little less than 1,300 hectares, most of it in AOC Moselle Luxembourgeoise along the Moselle River at the Luxembourg-German border - 90% white wine: Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Auxerrois, Elbling. - Pinot Noir and Pinot Precoce (Frühburgunder) are "on the rise" Today, there are more than 350 commercial winemakers.

Vintage sherries (vinos de añada sherry). This photo is an introduction to vintage wines. The Denomination of Origin Jerez-Xérèz-Sherry also allow for the use of the "añadas", or vintage system. This is a static ageing system (as opposed to the dynamic criadera and solera system) in which sherry wines from a specific harvest are separately aged and at no time blended with other wines from different years. Some wineries have opted for this system, obtaining wines that differ from the soleras and criaderas system.

🧐 Cracking the Code of French Wine Labels! 🇫🇷🍷 French wine labels can seem complex, but understanding a few key terms helps unlock a whole world of amazing wine. Here's a quick guide to making sense of those elegant labels: - Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC): Defines the region where the wine was produced, ensuring strict quality and authenticity rules. - Vin de France: Wines labeled this way offer more flexibility and may feature non-traditional blends or winemaking styles. - Cru: Refers to vineyards or wine-growing areas recognized for superior quality. - Château vs. Domaine: While both refer to wine estates, a Château typically includes a historic estate or building, while Domaine refers to a family-owned property. 💡 That’s just a small number from the full list we shine a light on 🔦 🎯Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g4WzqgrP #frenchwine #winelabels
