In the past three semesters, I have provided video recordings of lectures to the students. These are the recordings of my online lectures during the Covid-19 times. According to the students,  having access to the lecture videos helps them in many ways, like revising the concepts before the exams, studying the topics that were not clearly understood during the lecture, and preparing notes. I  analyzed the data from two semesters (autumn 2023 and Spring 2024) in which I taught the same course. There were 120 and 114 students enrolled for the course in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The analyzed data includes video view statistics obtained from MS Teams 'Insights', attendance records, exam performance, and feedback received from the students. The objective was to understand the correlation between attendance, video views, and exam performance. In 2023, the students were more habituated to online learning; hence, only very few of them interacted with me/asked doubts during the lectures. The situation was completely different in 2024; many students  actively participated in the classroom discussions and got their doubts clarified during the lectures. This could be the reason behind a noticeable decline in video views in 2024 compared to 2023. It is also reflected in the students' feedback about how helpful the lecture videos were. In 2023,  88% of them found it 'very helpful', but reduced to 69% in 2024. The impact of conducting exams/quizzes at periodic intervals on the study pattern of the students is evident from the local peaks in video views. In my experience, conducting tests at regular intervals and providing timely feedback (returning the corrected answer scripts within a few days after the tests) motivates students to study regularly throughout the semester. On correlating the video views with the grade points obtained in the course, it is observed that the students whose performance was average in the exams (grade point 7) viewed the videos the most. On average, a student with a grade point of 7 viewed the videos 29 days out of 117 days during the semester. Finally, there is a clear positive correlation between the classroom attendance and the grade points!
